I like the French team - speed and power on every position.

Shame though that Italy and the Netherlands didn't qualify. Just check the all-time table.

Pretty pumped. Especially, after North America won the 2026 vote!

I know the favorite are Germany, but I just don't think they'll do it. The midfield is a bit slow and not sure if Neuer is going to back to his regular self. I think it was a mistake that Lowe didn't take Sane. They will miss his power and pace. Sentimental favorite is Argentina, but I think Brazil are too strong. France are loaded with great individual talent, but I don't think they play as team. Spain was one of my favorites going in. We'll see if their manager getting sacked will affect them. Just hoping for great games and not many draws!

Yeah, the Brazilian squad is by far the favorite according to most sports writers. They are very strong and will be looking to avenge their loss to Germany in 2014. Should be an exciting Cup for sure. Just hard to believe that Italy and the Netherlands did not qualify.

How does a runner up place higher then a winner?

That table is sorted by points. 3 for a win, 1 for a draw, 0 for a loss. The Netherlands has 7 more wins than Uruguay, thus 21 more points over their history in the World Cup.

Obviously, the Dutch would trade those 3 runner-up finishes for Uruguay’s 2 championships in a heartbeat.

Agreed. It should be a list of championships and the rest...meh do you need a list of countries that almost won?

The host country will be buoyed by a 5 goal differential. I knew KSA was bad, but man did they suck. Still the weakest group in the tournament. Uruguay shouldn't have any problem finishing first.

If I'm Egypt, I rest Salah knowing that you'll only need wins against Russia and KSA to advance.

You and me both Sassicaia!! Would love to see both teams go at it again. But to be honest, the Brazilians make me very nervous. Just hope that the NEUER of 2014 shows up for 2018!!

Belgium is SCARY! They're an underdog favorite for me. Having said that, somehow in every competition, y'all get Bosnia in the group and always bump us out. Y'all need to cut us some damn slack! Alright!?!?!?!?

Wow...that Spain v. Portugal match was all it was hyped up to be.

Love him or hate him, you've got to tip your cap to Ronaldo.

Sure.
But then they meet the Germans and crash out.
Last match they won from Germany was back in 1954. The record since? 16 matches, 1 draw, 15 losses.
