Pulling vs Advancing timing in logs, care to help a novice?
Hey all,
Was wondering if someone could quickly school me in reading timing in logs. From how I understand, there are many, many, many factors that come into play in ignition timing. I'm very interested in that, but don't expect a full basic automotive stuff 101 class in a post (unless you're into that) What I'm interested in is identifying pulling vs advancing in timing, more specifically in the N55 world. I'm using the MHD tune right now and they have logging for timing correction per cylinder. The below chart as an example, is it as simple as negative values = pulling timing? This is probably a really dumb question but I just want to make sure I'm on the right track. Yes, negative timing correction = retarding timing. The most likely causes are poor fuel quality, or old plugs/coils.
