Extended quilting photos?
After a nearly year long quest, I’m settled on getting a 750i. I swear I’ve looked at nearly every other car on the market - haha. But that’s another story for another day.
I think I am most likely going with Mineral White (had a white e38 long ago) or Donnington Gray. I really like the extended quilting option for the leather interior and would love to see any “real world photos” y’all might have of cognac or Mocha for evaluation. And I guess I’ll ask if anyone has extended quilting leather and regrets it does any reason. Thanks, as always. |

Btw, Bmw is also adding the frozen bluestone and phytonic blue exterior colors shortly to the 750, and night blue/smoke white interior. I think these new interior/exterior options are supposed to be available this month. Bluestone with night blue/white interior will be really sharp.

The frozen colors look amazing, but its an absulute nightmare to maintain and keep good looking.
Not to mention if down the road you will need to respray a bumper or something. Getting the color right is a nightmare. Also small scratches and scars not possible to polish. |

I have a 2016 750 with the normal smooth leather armrest. When I had my spark plugs changed, the loaner was a 2020 740 with the quilted center armrest. It turns out that I really hated that. Feeling the stitching on my bare arm resting on it the whole time was not comfortable at all. I love the look of quilted seats and doors, but even the look of the quilted armrest wasn't my favorite, but then the uncomfort it provided kind of confirmed that it would not be choice for multiple reasons.

I've Donington grey and cognac with extended quilting. I like it very much and do not regret it.

There's two "levels" of quilting.
The one in the cognac interior the previous poster showed is what you get with some of the Nappa leather options. I've attached some here of what you get with the Merino leather. |

I would feel short-changed if I got a newer 7 without this.

My interior color option is Amarone Brown/Black.
It is an Individual. I was most focused on getting leather on the lower parts of the door. That was one of my biggest "gripes" about my previous 7. With that, every surface is leather, metal, wood, or alcantara. No plastic anywhere, and it truly feels like something a cut above regular cars. The higher leather quality was just a bonus, and when I saw that the Merino leather came with a quilting pattern that I preferred, I knew it was a must have. It's remarkable how much richer this car can look just with a nicer color interior with some quilting, vs. one in black with flat surfaces. |

I have a 2019 760 with full merino leather.
I HATE the F***ing quilting. Ugly as F***. Looks like an overdone Genesis interior. Catering to asian market. Disgusting. Might move to Mercedes or Porsche when my lease is up because quilting is ugly. |

I won’t be as abrupt as you with my comments, but I personally am not a fan of the quilting. I was concerned it would date the interior, and to me, I’m glad I didn’t get it. But everyone has different tastes, and BMW provides those options. |

With full merino, you now have to get quilting correct?

Less is more
I did not want the standard leather in my ‘20 740l. Felt a bit rough...and lacked the scent I chase after. So...I went with the Nappa and was arm twisted to go along with the diamond shaped quilting. It’s ok because there’s not a lot of it, imo. Still looks like an afterthought, if not a retro installation! Oh....what a great car tho! Here’s mine:
