Great; you can use it for road side assistance.

The most unreliable right there with Alfa Romeo and Audi and jaguar of the 80's

Before the voice recognition accuracy can be improved, I don't expect it to do anything for me.
Even the very basic function I need to talk to it for more than 3 or 5 times and ends up I give up....
But maybe this only happen in non-English environment... I don't know.

I think BMW has got the balance about right. It has the touch screen and voice controls for those that want it or for specific functions that suit it, but still retains the jog wheel and buttons on the console, dash and steering wheel.

This is a key reason I ruled out Audi this time round.

Also, for me a HUD is mandatory. Too many speed cameras near me and think it's not ideal to be taking your eyes off the road. That rules out Tesla, especially the Model 3 and Y where the speed isn't even in front of you!

The gesture control is ridiculous garbage, doesn’t work properly and the functions are far better managed with the buttons on the wheel or dashboard.

I've gotten very used to voice control in my home... hopeful it eventually gets as useful in the car. Basically just need it to work well to get the right song or playlist on Spotify
Agreed with this. The more buttons the better. So much easier to press a button than find something on a touchscreen.

Literally you have to press one easy to use button and the window goes down. Not only that, I can't see "hey Bmw" dropping the window 3 inches.

Just more pointless tech to distract us from the diluted driving experience and muted sounds of modern cars.
So true. Totally forgot I even had GC until I read your post. It's been THAT long since I've actually used it.

Too bad - it way better than Mercedes or Audi. Tech like HUD, the Infotainment system are great. No other car can touch BMW HUD. Some people are just different, but I would not be without that tech. Merc does a horrible job with it, which is why my wife stopped getting any Mercs....

I agree, when voice control fails I resort to gesture and for some reason the car doesn't recognise the five knuckle shuffle

Yes, but the tech is going into Mercedes cars first. Then we're seeing other manufacturers pick it up.

Uh, have you seen the S Class HUD? The new A8 HUD? They're pretty on par with what BMW is offering. Have you SEEN the Audi Virtual Cockpit? BMW's digital dash is garbage compared to both of the offerings of Mercedes and Audi.

" The best or nothing" ... Is Mercedes' slogan

Sometimes you have to pay, to be the best player in the game

Mercedes has no problem paying , they just pass the cost on to their customer

So does every business. If they didn't, they'd go bankrupt.

Yep and they are not even close. BMW is far better. I have always had a Mercedes along with a BMW, as my wife liked Merc. There HUD and whole system is really bad. Audi’s virtual cockpit is too. What is the point, when you have a great HUD system, like BMW’s?

And you have to get a S or 8 to get the new HUD. Big difference, when I can get BMW’s great HUD in any BMW.

hope your kidding or being sarcastic..

the only gesture that works decent is the moonroof visor cover open/close, the trunk gesture is about 20% IF that. electronics is SHIT on the range rover (2016~2019 at least)

the automatous driving is like pinball even on hwys.

regarding gesture with bmws the volume control is more gimmick, but the custom gestures to navigate home or mute are nice but so are the custom controls which are just as easy to use

The Audi live cockpit is ridiculously bright and distracting at night even at it lowest dim level. Common complaint about it over at Audi forums as well.

Mercedes is not even the shadow of its former self.

Mass produced and nothing special is what they have become. How the once mighty have fallen!

Mercedes once manufactured and crafted the fines automobiles in the world. You could tell a MB from miles away. Best paint quality, best sheetmetal, best fit and finish, best interior materials, best attention to detail in and out, safety, innovation. It was a car that had unmistakable presence on the road. Beside a Rolls Royce, a Mercedes Benz was a car to aspire to.

Modern M-B is nothing like that anymore. Just another manufacturer. People go gaga over their interiors riddle with creaky to the touch plastic interior trim pieces and glued in iPad tablets.

The decline of Mercedes started in the early to mid 1990s. While probably better off today they still haven't been able to recapture their former glorious self.

I prefer MB cars made during the era of their best slogan ever:

"Engineered like no other car in the world".

This is a real Mercedes Benz!

These cars used to outlast/outlive pretty much anything on the road.
