UK - front fog lights

Does the G11 LCI come with front fog lights in the UK ? There is nothing in the brochure and articles on the web are conflicting. I have ordered a 745e being built in Feb.

Appreciate your thoughts

It used to be that the M-Sport models do NOT come with fog lights, the non msport models do. Not sure if that’s still the same in latest models.

Lovely model, it’s what I’m contemplating as my next replacement vehicle.

Thanks. I read a BMW blog which said none of the G11 / G12 LCI or 8 Series now have them.

If you are replacing soon, then now is the time to talk to a UK dealer. I got a £92k 745e M Sport for £ 65k March delivery. I understand BMW are really nervous over the new S Class (next month) and want to sell the 745e as it helps reduce the EU fine for emissions. I think lease costs are reflecting the deep discount as well.

Need to get that sort of discount as residuals are very poor - 1 year models going for about £ 55k

Good points, thanks for mentioning the situation...will have to check that out.

I’ve looked at the models and indeed no fog lights as the lower front area is now a design aspect and doesn’t leave room for the fog lights. So indeed no fog lights on the 7’s on LCI models. To be fair, no need for them as had my 16 reg several years and although I’ve tried them the dipped beam led’s work just as good in fog and so really only minimal use. The rear fog light will still need to be there of course built into the tail light but not the front. Haven’t seen a close up picture of the light controls to see how they’ve dealt with that now!

Nice ride and a lovely future proof vehicle. I do have to say the new S features are starting to grow on me but the looks externally and the drive of the last model wasn’t moving me. Hopefully the next 7 will be as engaging to drive and have added significant tech to compete as well.

Stay safe.

Mine is an M Sport and has LED fog lights (2018) and it wasn’t an option.

Mine was £10 shy of £92k, and I paid around £50k in 2018. Dealers get registration bonuses and also have to sell their allocation of each model to get other manufacturer rebates. If your delivery isn’t until Feb/Mar this won’t affect this years numbers, so no impact on 2020 rebate - and too early in 2021 for them to be doing any deals based on rebate. Always best to do deals on cars like this in late Q3/Q4 for delivery before 31st Dec - they will have some view on how many cars short they are of their overall allocation to get their rebates. These rebates can be hundreds of thousands of pounds.

I remember buying a brand new company chauffeur car in 2013 (VW Phaeton) list was £58k and I paid under £20k. Dealer needed to shift this car to open up a £250k rebate, hence was willing to sell at a loss. We still have it today as a spare with 200k miles on it. My normal terms on Phaeton would have been c. 30%, so it all about timing and knowing what the dealer needs to achieve and by when.

Thanks for that. I was offered the same car for the same discount in Sept so presumably they weren’t near to a rebate then. They offered the same px then as now but my car will be 6 months older so I could live with the hit a bit happier. Residuals seem to be all over the place due to COVID - with some of the auctions closed the dealers aren’t keen on taking anything in.

They have said that if the 2021 Q1 discount is any higher then they’ll increase mine to that. Normally you wouldn’t know, but I think CarWow will confirm the discounts available.

I have always thought that list prices aren’t anywhere near market prices on German cars and how guides like What Car can forecast 40% - 50% residuals at 3 years against list prices is beyond me.

You are lucky that we now have a deal on trade with the EU, otherwise you may have been looking at an 8-10% price increase due to import tariffs - BMW has given price protection on the purchase price for orders placed before the Jan price increase, but not against any government/import tariffs.

We are seeing similar fluctuations in trade values too, which will impact leasing, as no one knows what RV to set, and the lease companies won’t want to catch a cold at the end, so will probably set their RV’s low at the moment to minimise their exposure.

Thanks Markr, seems I've told an unintentional lie! I've since gone and looked at a few pictures of msport and non models of the pre LCI and been very surprised to see it was standard on all from the 725d model upwards! (although I think the 760 may not have had them? Can't tell if any had them as standard or optional from the limited pics I've seen)...

Appreciate the correction and my apologies to Wivenhoe for telling the porky! Certainly wasn't intentional!

Safe travels everyone.
