G11 seats - disc hernia & comfortability

Hi all,

A few days ago I sold my 2018 G30 as recently my back is getting worse and worse. I have a pretty severe hernia (which is getting better fortunately) but I travel a lot for work so my M-Sport G30 with 20’ wheels just didn’t cut it.

As I live in Europe we can get a very good deal on G11 (2018 or so) here so I’m thinking of getting one with air suspension.

I have a few questions:
1. I see that in the 7 series there are multi contour seats (as on G30) but I also see that there are M seats. Are those M seats narrower than regular multi contour? From the pictures I can see that the functions are the same as on the regular ones. (I’ve uploaded a picture of what seems to be an M seat?)
2. Does anybody here have back problems and how did the 7 preform so far?

Thanks everyone!

Those are komfort seats. I didn't see sport seat in g11 or g12. It's not as good as in E65.

I agree, although the current model seats have more adjustable options, I too felt the seats in the E66 were much more comfortable.

My only gripe with the G12 seats is that I can feel a metal bar running across the bottom portion of the seat.

I bought my first G12 ('17) because the seats were the best I have ever experienced with my chronically bad back, especially the massage function, which is a bit of a misnomer. It subtley changes in a way that helps stop my back tightening up. These are not the M seats, the normal comfort seats with massage function. But seats, (like colors), are too individual IMHO to say that one is "better" than another. The only opinion that counts is your own, and the only way to tell is to sit in different seats and decide.

Thanks for the feedback! It seems that those seats are just regular seats with M badging on the sides (the three color stripe). I have a lot of issues with my G30 seats, actually so much that I started to seriously dislike the car because of it.
It’ll be challenging to find a car with these exact seats to test them out.
Are you entirely sure those are regular comfort seats? Is there a difference between multi-contour and comfort seats?

I agree with this - anyone ever find a way to "fix" this?

I concur with this thread. My 08’ e65 with ventilated and massage seats still has the most comfortable seats IMO. My 2017 g12 has the massage/vent/ infinite adjustments etc. it is comfortable however I still like my e65 seats better and I cheat on my 17 occasionally . I make an every 3 week 2000 mile round trip in my g12 and I have managed to survive so far. The massage is key on those long haul drives and keeps the blood moving more than anything.
