Need New Dash Panel 2017 750i HUD

Any suggestions on where to get one aside from the dealership? The leather is pulling away from the panel near the windshield. I've looked at videos and the replace, while tedious, does not look that hard. I can't find anywhere that sells them. Black leather. Any help is appreciated!!

Garage List
There are lots of parts sellers who may have them. Google them. Also of course are junkyards.

Have you thought about talking to a trim shop to see what options they can offer, either a repair or a re trim?

Have you simply gone to any of the online part database sites to look up the 11 digit BMW part number…then type “BMW xx xx x xxx xxx” (where x = the actual numbers) into a google search box? The leather dash for a 2017 BMW 7 series or a G11 7 series in general is NOT going to be a highly sought after item…most options will probably be either new or from a dismantler/junk yard.

BTW, you need more than “black leather” as a key search word. There are two types of dashes…one with HUD and one without HUD. Again, go to one of the part database sited, enter the last 7 digits of your VIN, the go to the diagram for the instrument cluster and select the 11 digit BMW part number that would use to replace yours…then google that BMW part number to find vendors that are selling that part.

If you are not familiar with any online part database sites…here’s 3:

A good search engine for the junkyards near you is car-part.com.
Fill out their menus and location. the B&W sound system may be a dash difference if you have that, but I’m not positive of that.
As to the problem, I have a dash wrinkle, too. I took it to a shop with excellent credentials nearby and had him look it over. He didn’t want to tackle it and said it’s fairly common defect on leather dash vehicles if left unprotected in the Sun. He mentioned a Ferrari he looked at and it’s prevalent on the newer 3LT Corvettes.
Although declining the job, his approach would be to remove the windshield and effect the repair from outside the car, or, a much bigger job, pull the dash and recover it removed from the vehicle.
Good luck! I’m interested in what you find.

I've tried all of the reputable ones. They will not touch it because the airbag is underneath.

This was extremely helpful! The PN looks to be 51459388876, and I'll be calling to make sure the black/black w/HUD fit the Serial. Thanks!

No one would touch it, and I thought that removing the windshield (which needs to be replaced as it has chips) would entice them. As a matter of fact I've been holding off on windshield replacement for this very reason. I think I've run out of options and will buy new and take to a body shop for replacement.

I'd be very leery of asking most body shops to do that. The people that body shops hire to do tear down and reassembly are usually low man on the totem pole types and not very careful or thorough. It would have to be the kind of body shop that works on Ferrari's or something before I would do that. Plus, body shops do not replace dash pads often and may not even have detailed instructions. This will be a very expensive proposition for you either way, so if it were me (although I would actually DIY) I'd let a dealer or very trusted indy do it.

You may not believe me when I tell you but you really don't want the job of replacing the dashboard. I see what the problem is but it will cost a fortune because no sane person will undertake the disassembly of this dashboard. Personally, I would prefer to cut out the glass and fix it without disassembling the dashboard, let me know how you solve this problem because it will be a really phenomenal topic.

*** I wish you good luck and keep my fingers crossed ***

Mine was covered under warranty. Took the foreman a day to replace the dashboard.

What are you planning to do with that? A patch will look bad and won't stick well to that small of a area, and covering the whole dash will look like hell.

Right. Not sure why people act like removing the dash pad is the same difficulty level as assembling the space shuttle with tweezers. It has to come out for a number of repair jobs, so they don't make it that hard.

If your dash looks like the photos above, then it is not simply an issue of the covering having come unglued. It has shrunk from heat. A lot. Nobody can really fix that. Maybe steaming it and pulling on it might stretch it some, but I doubt it. Replacement is really the only reasonable option if that bugs you enough to begin with because any repair, especially a DIY repair, will bug you far more.

Hi everyone. Ultimately, this comes down to being my fault for not conditioning the leather, and the car spending too much time in the hot, southern sun. I checked literally every high-end upholstery shop in my area and no one would touch it.

So, I’ve ordered a new one. Expensive lesson to learn, but if your car is not regularly garaged, you should have a sunshield for your dash.

It's good that you explained it because it's a warning for people who have a dashboard trimmed with leather. I will honestly say that I personally suspected an incompetently cut windshield and the leather cover was cut during the replacement.

Well, luckily in Ireland there is no harsh sun which I avoid anyway and I always try to put the car in the shade. Thank you very much for sharing your experience. I hope you can fix it at some reasonable cost.

Share the details of the costs and the work done/its result.

Does anyone know what is the dashboard and upper door trim material if it's not an extended nappa option, but regular. Is it SensaTec or Dakota?
