B&W illuminated speakers - color change

Hi guys,
finally picked up my new G70! Will post more pictures soon.

A question on the speakers.

I was under the impression that the illumination on the diamond B&W system illuminates accordingly with the ambient lighting color, but can't seem to make it work in any of the menus. I know that other B&W systems on other BMWs seems to have that feature. Is there something i'm missing out on?

Please let me know your thoughts/experiences. Picture attached.

There’s a setting in ID8 to change it. I’ll look later today and post back.

Exactly, it is a setting in that same area that asks you if you want to keep the speaker lights white or let them change with the ambient lighting.

In reading your post, I had an associated question. I'm driving a 2021 740i. How do I turn on the lights in the speakers? Do I need to have it coded?

2021 you need to have gotten the B&W audio option (~$3.5k) to get lighting in the speakers. Your speaker grilles will be silver if you got B&W, black if you had the default Harman/Kardon system. The H/K system is not illuminated. If you have B&W the lighting configuration options should be somewhere in the iDrive settings menus.

The new 2023+ 7 series has B&W by default, and there's a higher-end B&W upgrade option available, so (I think) it always has lighting regardless of which options you pick. (Edit: it doesn't.)

Depends if you have the B&W option, but it does have an option in the ambient lighting menu.

I purchased the 2023 760i with the baseline B&W speakers; I did not upgrade to the Diamond series but the system is B&W. I have gone through the menu system several times and cannot find the speaker illumination option. It’s not in the Interior Lighting, Ambient Lighting or any other menu area that I think would be a logical location. If someone has the standard B&W system and was able to locate the speaker illumination option, I would appreciate explicit menu guidance. Thanks!

I am interested in that as well. Do the speakers illuminate without the upgraded sound system?

My understanding is that if you have the base sound system, the speakers do not light up. Only if you have the upgraded bowers and Wilkins system, the speakers will light up, but only in white. They do not match the ambient lighting.

This is partly not correct. The speakers can either be white or match the ambient lighting color.

Under interior ligthing, uncheck Bowers & Wilkins. It will then match ambient ligthing.

I have the base Bowers and Wilkins, but the above menu option could not be found under interior lighting (2023 BMW 760i) for the speaker lights!

The illuminated speakers are only available on the diamond surround system

That I what I thought as well, but with some of above posts I misunderstood (my bad) and thought that it is available with even base BW! Thanks for clarifying!
