Tire size

Picking up my 760 on Friday and really struggling to find suitable tires for the winter weather we have here in Utah. I've spent way too much time looking into this and the car is so new that the parts department is pretty useless. They couldn't even tell me the bolt pattern when I was looking into getting a dedicated wheel/tire setup for winter.

My car comes with the 21s which are 255/40/21 and 285/35/21 respectively. Anyone know if I could go up to 265/40/21 and 295/35/21? The rotations / mile is about 1% difference but if I could go up in size there are plenty of all-season options available.

I did notice that the manual say 19" is OK and the difference in rotations / mile between the 19 and 21 is larger than 1%.

Finally have a game plan with regards to tires. A little annoying that no one knows anything about this car but guess that’s what happens when it’s a brand new model.

I’ll be getting 265/40/21 and 295/35/21 Continental DWS06 Plus all-season tires and mount them on the factory 21” wheels. It’s one size wider and there’s the risk of rubbing but if that happens I can return the tires to Discount Tires. If there’s no obvious rubbing I’ll swing by my local BMW dealer who will validate that I’m good to go. Happy to be a guinea pig so we can all learn together.

Update: Fit perfectly and no rubbing

Thanks for sharing your game plan. For the fronts, why don’t you get 255/40/21 A/S tires?

Great question! I thought about it but after talking the tire guy at my dealer he recommended against it because the xDrive system front/rear wouldn't be rotating within the same specs as they do with the factory tires. By going up one size front and rear I'm keeping the same "ratio" (for the lack of a better word) between front/rear as the stock tires and from the xDrive system's point of view I'm still within factory spec.

Put the Continental DWS06 on and they fit perfect. Windows were just tinted so I can’t roll them down but I did several circles in both directions and couldn’t hear any rubbing.

patrikr thanks for sharing your experience. Any issues with the all-season tires? Did you validate at dealer?

No issues at all, been on the car since Jan and been great. Dealer said it all looked good.
