No iPhone Text Chime / Tone when Charging in Car!?
For those who have Apple iPhone 5’s, anyone notice that our phones don’t make their audible alert / chime / tone for incoming texts when charging via the USB port? Doesn’t matter if my phone is on “ring” or “vibrate”. Doesn’t happen when my phone is charging when plugged into an electric outlet. Very annoying I can’t seem to figure this out! Thanks.

But the condition is that the IDrive must be on CD/Multimedia and than on the IPhone if you listen to your music |

I never use iPhone for music. On either AM/FM or CD/Media, no sound on text or e-mail receipt... |

I'm sorry, but I'm not following / understanding you.
The source I'm listening to doesn't matter, as the phone doesn't make a sound when receiving texts / e-mails when it is charging via a USB cable plugged into the center console. It does, however, ring, which is good, but is should make a sound for texts / e-mails too! :| |

The best you can do is to properly config your phone and iDrive with Bluetooth. You can receive emails and texts on the iDrive screen. But, you need to kill and restart email app every time you enter your car. Texts don't require a reset of the app. Properly configured, you will see a small icon of an envelope on most iDrive screens indicating you have new mail or new text. You will never get an audible for email or texts. |
