Ambient light strip

Hello,

Does anyone know the part number of ambient light plastic strip/cover for the dashboard? It is difficult or easy to replace? I am not sure if the replacement is cover under the BMW insured warranty as this could be trim, cosmetic which is usually not covered in the UK.

You might pick up a used one on eBay if they don’t cover. I have seen the trim pieces come up on there from time to time. Can’t help with the part number though sorry, I don’t know if it can be bought separately but rather as part of the wood trim,

You cant but the dash strip separate, comes only along with the dash trim (around 500$). You can only buy the lower and upper door conductors for ambi light.

I thought it will be just a plastic fiberoptic strip. The dash trim sounds expensive, I will leave it. The BMW doesn't cover that under a comprehensive warranty.

They aren’t that expensive on eBay. I bought a door card with all the trim etc for 80 Euro.

I contacted the dealer and got the same response as mrgicm door strips are available to buy separately but not the dash trim. I have to buy the whole panel with a wooden part in it which cost a lot.

Buying a used dash trim most likely will not work also as there ia no chance to check if the light strip is 100% working which in most cases it is not.

The whole LED panel light up and the damage is not visible during night time.
