Does the new 7er really handle like this?
I am gonna be an owner of a new F02 7er. When I was watching InsideLine test I was shocked. Click the link below and check it out in the skid pad part (0:35). It has lots of body roll. Is that normal for a car of this size or maybe it did not have Dynamic Drive. It reminds me of muscle cars, lots of power but sucks in corners. Don't tell me its a luxury car, it should not handle very well. Its a BMW! BMWs are luxury cars that handle well but I am not sure about this new 7er.
In the second link is the comparison between the 7er and S-class. The S-class was slightly slower but it was so stable on the skid pad. Why wasn't the 7er stable in the skid pad? 7er track video 7er vs. S-class |

for whatever reason, some people think the new 7 is an M7 - it is not. it is simply a large sedan that handles great (as compared to others in it's class) with excellent power and technolgies and styling. |

I've seen this video before. The car doesn't have the Sport Package. And it doesn't have the the Active Body Control to control the lean. The S550 has ABC which is why it stays flat.
I have no idea why they tested the least sportiest 7er setup with the sportiest benz setup. But that's what it is. |

yeah like said above, the 750 definitely didnt have the anti roll stabilization like the merc did. Ive driven the s550 with abc before and thought that it handled very unnaturally (in a turn, it boosts up the outside part of the car and hunkers down the inside, which I think feels really weird; you can clearly see this in the slalom part of the video in the first post, and they commented a bit on it as being "counter-intuitive)
Here is edmunds testing a sports pack, ARS equipped 750i (notice how there is much less roll, yet it still responds to the lateral forces naturally) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jqSc-encjNY gotta love the quote "the 750 has S63 AMG performance for less than S550 price" |

The 750i should have come in with lower numbers. I guess the test times are due to the way they tested the cars and probably wasn't done the exact same way. If I recall correctly, in the video clip where they tested the 750Li they mentioned that they turned traction control off and that they manually shifted through the gears to get that time. So I assume that for the 750i they let the automatic do the shifting for them as that time is pretty much what BMW quoted for this model. Nonetheless, still amazing numbers considering the size and weight of these cars!
