Windshield replacement Local Shop or BMW

Anyone ever got their windshield busted or cracked?
I was driving on my way home from vacation and the freeway there was a dump truck, not even in my lane, a rock hit my windshield very, and now I got a crack like 6 - 8 inches long.
What would be better to replace at the local shop or BMW?
How much will it cost to replace?
I was just wondering if anyone suggests?

It would be best for it to be done by BMW. Your insurance will cover the cost and you'll appreciate the better quality of glass over other companies. This was my experience with my 7-series.

I agree - with all the features built into the glass, you're better off with OEM rather than aftermarket especially if the insurance will take care of it since it is a significant costs difference.
