Market will eventually correct. When & by how much? All guesses right now.

Anyone thinking the current insanity will last forever is a fool. Now is the time to sell a car

People should start buying and stashing the Z06. In 30 years, when people will almost exclusively be driving faceless, egg-shaped electric vehicles, it will be the next GNX.

I think you might have a skewed view of the pay a "regular 9-5 job" brings in.

Just for easy numbers, 5yr note with 0 down is north of $1800/month before you get to insurance/maintenance/fuel or the TT&L when purchased.

Which by most conservative estimates means your net income needs to be in the $10k/month range.

??

9-5 is a general term for an 8 hour a day job. My friend is in banking and his hours are 9-5 and he makes 140k a year.

I do 11-7 shifts with lots of Double shifts but 11-7 is still 8 hours.

I don’t mean a Walmart or target job when I say 9-5. Lots of people I know have office jobs and make well over 100k.

I stopped by MacMulkin Chevrolet/Corvette dealership and they have a waiting list for people that back out, or cant get financing on customer ordered cars. They are getting about 60-80 Z06 according to what I was told.

I know what 9-5 is, come on man.

I was focusing on "regular" when you look at the avg salary for the country. Being able to own a home, put away for retirement, go out, take vacations and buy a $100k car............you aren't doing that on any kind of average salary.

A "regular" 9-5 salary is not $140k. Only about 6% of earners in the country earn more than $100k per year.

It was any kind of attack on you or anything.

Ok yeah that was my fault for putting regular lol. I didn’t mean to put that.

I just meant 9-5 job. Like some people kill themselves to get these cars but if you have a proper 9-5 job, then yeah you can get these cars.

60-80 allocations per model year?

I don’t think that’s accurate. They told me it is based off the previous generation z06 year sales. So 200-300 depending.

Like I said, this car will be desired forever lol

So only 6% of people have "proper" 9-5 jobs? lol

I live where it's cheap and if it was my only car and wanted to be able to do all the things I mentioned, I would need a $160-180k/yr salary to be to do all those things.

I mean unless you want to live in a crummy 1 bedroom, never go on vacation and eat ramen noodles 10 times a week.

I didn’t say 6%. The other guy did. I don’t know the percentage nor do I care lol. You did actually lol

A proper 9-5 is a career. A regular 9-5 job that I mentioned incorrectly meant a job at Walmart or something. Yeah it’s a job but you’re capped at what? 50k? 60k? That’s shit money.

If you have a proper job, aka a real career, you can still work 9-5 hours. Or 7-3, 11-7, whatever and be able to afford these cars like nothing.

I was saying that only 6% of people make 100k or more per year. You would need to make much more than that to afford one unless you're a trust fund baby. Which was the whole "no, not everyone can afford one."

You're focused on the hours, even though I've explained it twice it's not about the hours, it's about the amount of money you make on whether you can afford one.

There are plenty of "real careers" that don't put you in the top 6%.

So I just googled it and it said in 2021 30.7% of Americans make over 100k

6% doesn’t sound right at all. And I disagree about not being able to afford a 100k car if you don’t make 100k.

These days there are far other outlets available for extra income.

It's true.. 100k/yr incomes can hardly purchase a home anymore. Maybe it's cheaper to just but a z06 and live in it. Kidding of course, people aren't buying vettes as a single car DD, or actually have mortgages or other large expenses typically.

You're looking at households, not individuals, like everyone else already pointed out. And like I specifically said in my post. And what does "extra income" have to do with anything, if you don't need to make $100k/yr to buy a $100k car?

My household income is around $140-150k and there is no way we could afford a $100k car and that's with a mortgage that's only $1100/month and no kids.

A 5 year car loan would be $1820/month! And that's before insurance and maintenance and fuel. So without paying any utilities or food, we are already at $3k a month. Add in $400/month for payment and insurance on her newer Mazda 3.

Food and utilities are going to add way more than $1k/month. And that isn't taking into account if you want to buy some beer, go out to eat, go on a vacation, save more than just what's in your 401k, have cash on hand for a deductible for a house/car claim or you need to fix the AC or heat, etc.

Buy clothes, shoes, etc.
