I think at this price point this is probably the most luxurious interior you can get with the most modern tech. The dash main screen actually seem to be more incorporated rather then like M3 where it's just sitting there on top.
Personally I like the crystal knobs. Finishes look very high end. Personally I don't care so much about massive screen in the back but obviously whoever would be transported would enjoy all that. |

If I pretend the lower lights aren't there I can almost like the front.

The dash board is absolutely disgustingly ugly. I mean really, really ugly. Interior is nice if I look at the seats. The rest is meh… Too bad as the car must be nice (the NA one, as I dont care about electric). Good cars dressed from Thrift Store… Oh! One more thing: for me, both, Bentley and Rolls Royce are not my coup of tea and never been. Too much Ludovic XVI furniture and door knobs… |

Agree completely. The front end is a turn off.

Now on the topic of the electric models...Mercedes isn't even in the same discussion. That car is a complete fail in comparison, in every measurable way.

You would think they would put a digital backup camera in regards to the tv covering up the view. Seems like a major oversight

This car is probably the largest leap forward for the brand on any model change over since Y2K. Without having read anything about it yet from road testers, just watched the carwow vid, i feel that this time around they have left competition in the dust.

BMW and Mercedes are still playing catch up IMO. Let’s hope they will still be relevant by the time they catch up to the innovations in the EV world.

When a group of people buys 45% of a product, of course the company listens to that group. But you want to be racist and refer to the Chinese having tacky, bad taste. |

People posting previously that the car looks like it was designed for the Chinese market were right. In the CarWow video Matt said BMW expects over 40% of global sales to be in China and that the car was designed for a 38 year old target demographic in that country.

Car design vs. product design. Unfortunately BMW's focus is more the latter.

I do not like the front end in pictures, as I really don't like the "divorced" DRL / headlight look on any car. But the proportions of the car very much suggest a Rolls Royce look, while the S class looks very much like a giant C class, rather than the other way around. Not good. The S class interior's screen layout doesn't do it for me either. I'm not anti-screen in the least, but the current Merc. layout seems disjointed and "tablet" like. I do think, though, that Merc wins on actual gauge layout and customization. I think they are industry leading there. But yeah, front end look aside, I think BMW has really upped their game with this car. Especially in i7 form. |

I love this car.
I've been very critical of BMW design for the past few years, but this one looks just right to me; and the reviews are mostly great! |

Twisting my words the way you like it it doesn’t mean that is what I said. For a very long time, everyone is saying that no, the Chinese market has nothing to do with it. The guy confirmed it does. My comment came as a response to the permannent refusal to accept that BMW took some decisions based on the market that is more important. Secondly, Taste is one thing, the need of blink to showoff the status, is another. It is more complicated than it looks and is not necessary related to China only. Many ex communist countries that had the door open are going through a similar process after decades of enclosure. Maybe you should get mor familiar with the subject? Plenty of articles on this, just start reading. http://en.chinaculture.org/focus/foc...ent_492842.htm https://www.businessinsider.com/chin...11-9?r=US&IR=T Thirdly, I don’t care if a gorup of 45% buys a product. It means nothing to me. I am not a sheep. All I care is if it does fit my taste, my requirements and represents me as an individual, from the design point of view to the technical point of view. Plus I like to be happy anytime my eye meets my car. This one doen’t. The overall design of this car is not the elegance, subtility and “wolf in the sheep clothes” that BMW used to be. That was quite my alley. And they are not beautiful. Accepting a car and looking at it just under the ideea that “it will grow on me” just proves that it failed to be a beautiful, desirable product. The acceptance works with mediocre. I am a very long BMW fan with decades behind me in this family and not everything was perfect but they were still under a certain specific design. At this stage There is no identity. If I take that badge of on the front and the rear on many new models, non-car people will not be able to say is a bimmer. And let’s say that that will be ok too, but they are not beautiful either. Just a mix of undefined designs that lacks any design cohesion. So, bottom line, obviously I am not their target and that is fine. Either way, beautiful tech, beautiful specs, bad design… |
