Don't disagree with the origins, but the i3 and i8 execution is so much more cohesive

Are people really that badge blind ?. It looks like one of those cheap Chinese knock offs, but of what I'm not sure. Sorry I hate to be so negative but that thing is horrid.

Its ok to turn it into a market place for sponsors with comment function on products where they moderate bad comments, while also posting 30 sec videos about how they love community and talk about new product. I think if it goes that way it is their decision, just dont want the the pretence of some free speaking forum. Being rude is bad, but well argued negative view is OK. BMW ix spirit animal for me is firmly this and I cant shake off this disproportionate car, hopefully a facelift will address this strange grille tiny eyes big cheek situation. From side and rear it looks alright, not pretty but ok. Front is bad. And there in lies the problem with new BMW designs - they say same old things, but cars look different - made by someone who doesnt care about the looks. Car is an emotional object, it is like clothing, you want to look good in it. But there is also a very different approach to clothing and cars - you dont care how it looks, you either after comfort or features. IX is about comfort and features, and looks are secondary. It is an embarassing front graphic, but range is also bad (should be more talked about) and price will be massive for it also. I think BMW isnt quite there with technology being private co and small in scale. Rimac/VW/Porsche have stolen a march on BMW in electric tech, and I suspect their diesel gate scandal will end up helping them more than we know in few years. Bring it on! Like the G80 poll where the results showed a lot of people actually liked the new design which led to the haters whining that the poll was skewed because they couldn't come to grips with the fact that their opinion is just that?

Well, to be fair, the G80 poll is within the G8X forums, not in the general/public discussion area for a greater number of members to vote in it, leading to less than 400 votes, and on top of that, many banned members do not have access to that poll or the ability to vote because of its post location, which could be considered sampling bias.
Even still, despite that, its clear representation that it is a polarizing design, with "strongly dislike" outweighing other options, more so than "love" or "like" the two positive options.

People keep saying that but really how many posters really got banned relative to the 379 that have voted? There were a few posters that were literally frothing at the mouth angry that needed to go but was it really that much?

I like it. Not sure about the black pieces here and there, but overall it looks good for an EV. Proportions look right. Wheels are not the best but definitely better than Tesla wheels.

First time I've seen that color and I like it. An earlier poster said the grills (snout) look better on this car that the 4--I agree, but I'm still reminded of the Daimler SP-250 I once owned. People called it "fish mouth". I'm sure a similar sobriquet will come into fashion for the new BMW design language.
I wonder how compliant the suspension will be. The problem with my X5 40e was that it really didn't have much compliance over bumps and I think that was because product planners put stiff suspensions on SUV's for load carrying purposes. Initial drivers of the upcoming VW ID.4 say that it has a very compliant suspension while only being a "little" tippy. Really hoping it's a little smaller than the X5, which was too large for a good grocery hauler in a city. I'm also reluctant to go for the compromised combo ICE/PHEV/EV platform, compared to the dedicated EV platforms coming from other German car companies. I guess one will need to wait and see if there are weight and interior space compromises compared to a dedicate EV platform. If the shared platform allows BMW to come in at a lower price than dedicated EV platforms, BMW will be proven correct in it's transition to EV plans. If not, I fear BMW will not fare so well. |

For the record, you can buy it if you like, just dont get upset someone doesnt like it. Some people bought Multiplas and Aztecs and they couldnt give a tiny rats ass what people thought. I respect that. I still think cars were ugly. Last edited by Tallest; 12-03-2020 at 01:08 PM.. |

Tbh, I like it. The pig nose grille looks way better on the X-series than it does on the M3/M4. Also glad to see the growth of electric cars - might not feel and sound like the badass engines we're used to, but given how young the technology is, the future possibilities of EVs are endless!
