2024 760i Delay at Port

My vehicle shows "at port" for about two months. Any news on any shipping delays?

Where is it going? Did you call the Genius to confirm it’s actually at the port rather than the status being stuck?

Yes, I spoke to BMW and they confirmed that the car has been in the port in Europe since January, that there is no damage and no special notes based on the VIN. The person I spoke to said without any notes, that he could not provide any updates as to how much longer it would take to ship to the U.S.

If there was any damage or stop sale orders, it would’ve changed to “in transit.” Mine just left Zeebrugge for Galveston on 3/8 after spending about 2 weeks there. Depending on where yours is going, there’s another ship (Hamburg Highway) that is scheduled to leave Zeebrugge for Galveston in the next day or 2.

Two MONTHS?! Yikes. "Danger Will Robinson! Danger Will Robinson!"

Mine was "At Port" (193) for all of 8 days (Oct 22-30) until it changed to "In Transit" (195). Certainly let us -- and especially folks ordering new cars -- know via reposting here what the holdup was when it is known to you. Otherwise, that dog don't hunt!

I spoke to the BMW genius yesterday. I didn't know about that until I read the comments on the forum. Thank You all.

My vehicle is set to arrive tomorrow at the port of Baltimore on the Polaris Highway. Does anyone know how long the cars typically sit at the port after arriving in the states? In my case, I'm assuming it should arrive at the dealership the same day it leaves the port. Baltimore is just a couple of hours from the dealership.

It has to go through processing at the VPC and then get on a truck. My dealer is less than 2 hours from the Newark center and it has never been less than 3 days (or more than 8). BMW Genius can help. They've always known more than the dealer knew, until the day it leaves the VPC. In NY the dealer also sometimes has to wait a day for the title. Then there is prep the dealer has to do (sometimes update software, things like that). The hardest part of ordering is the last steps because if you are like me you want that car rightnow.

My 2023 760ix took three weeks to leave the VPC in Georgia.

If you have the 'MyBMW' App, you can track the vehicle while parked at the VPC and as it transits to your Dealer.

I've not been able to do that for any of the many cars i have ordered. Putting the VIN in the app wasn't possible until you got into the car (last time the Genius at delivery did it). But that would be great. How did you do it?

Tracking delivery movement through MyBMW App

I did nothing to set up the link between my yet-to-be-received 760ix and my phone other than to download the MyBMW App. My dealer entered the VIN.

Car was in Brunswick GA VPC, I'm in Central Florida and my Dealer was in West Palm Beach. The App had the car location from arrival in-country. After loading onto the car-carrier, I could see it traversing down I-95.

This is great. But I think you have to get the dealer to enter the VIN. I tried it last time I had a car on a boat (11/23) and it wouldn't take the VIN. It wanted the phone to pick up a QR code displayed in the car.

I was able to enter the VIN into the MyBMW app as soon as it completed production. Will check if it becomes trackable when it reaches the port.

Trackable of course through production and delivery to the port. That's where there has been a black hole. The MyBMW app tracks in two ways/ OOne is where the car is in the production process. The other is to show its exact location on a map. It is the latter that might tell you where the carr is if you can get that feacture activated before taking delivery. I couldn't. Others apparently could.

I gave up and ordered a new car yesterday. The dealer could never locate my car after it arrived at the port somewhere in Europe and I escalated it quite a bit on my own as well. Totally bizarre. So cancelled, reconfigured (decided to option it up quite a bit more than the original build) and it is supposed to be ready for production in about 30 days.

Thanks for letting us know. That must have been a tough decision but certainly the wise and correct one -- good for you! "Totally bizarre" is an understatement but in a very short while you'll have you new and better-configured car; a few months after that you'll look back at all of this with bemusement. CONGRATS - we're happy for you!

My 740 arrived at port 5 February and departed around 11 March. It is on the Hamburg Highway somewhere in the Atlantic. Expected to Galveston around the 28th. We'll see....

Excited to get it: Oxide gray/smoke white 740 xdrive with premium and executive pkgs, luxury rear seat pkg, rear steering, and driving assistance pro.
