Maserati Will Feature BMW Self-Driving Technology

Back in 2017, FCA decided to join BMW, Intel and Mobileye's autonomous driving platform development alliance instead of going it alone in developing its own self-driving technology.

Bloomberg now reports that Maserati will be the first of FCA's brands to use self-driving technology being developed with BMW AG, as Fiat chairman John Elkann said in a speech in Turin. The technology will offer assisted-driving features on highways, Elkann told an industry group Monday, without specifying a date for deployment in Maserati vehicles.

BMW, Intel, and Mobileye's goal was to launch the alliance's first self-driving car in 2021, so the earliest we would possibly see Maseratis equipped with BMW self-driving technology would be some point after that.

I used to buy BMWs because they were the "Ultimate Driving Machine". Humans are supposed to have real sex and drive real cars.

Technology carries three risks: poor engineering (including poor test engineering), approvals of technology components with known risks, and lack of disclosure / training. Boeing's MCAS comes to mind.

I think Maserati made the right decision as a company acknowledging that replicating complex technology is an effort wrought with risks as well as a poor investment. It's better to source it from companies with deeper experience.

At the same time, I prefer to drive my own car considering software is only as good as the person who wrote the code, tested the code, and approved the code.

Yeah shocker... Maserati is literally the most dogshit "exotic" car you can buy. It's a mix match of different cars and worst of all, Chrysler.

By far the most unappealing high end car you purchase. Sorry that was kinda a rant. Just really hate those cars lol

Broke people can buy cars that expensive?

Or is your idea of broke mean making less than $250k per year?
