unique issue - 2001 Alpina B7

So this is something really bizarre that I have never seen before and I am hoping one of you have. My passenger side sun visor has an issue where when you flip it down the light turns on with the mirror cover shut. As soon as you open the mirror cover, the light turns off. This is backwards obviously and the driver-side doesn't do this. It performs the way it is supposed to. Does anyone have any idea what the heck is going on here? I thought maybe the wires were plugged in backwards on either the light or the actual sun visor. That however isn't the case because I took them both out and looked them over. There is no way to plug them in backwards because of the connector. So that's not it. Any ideas would be more than welcome.
