Can anyone enlighten me on why they use the 50i and not the 60? I know the 60 isn't out yet but wouldn't a TTV12 be an easier power plant to work with?

Very impressive preformance numbers. To bad I'll never get to drive on.

The TTV12 doesn't exist as of now, and re-EPA certifying an engine that has since gone out of production would be a nightmare.

Also, they already have this engine in production (pretty much), so it's just a matter of adapting it to the G12 chassis/engine and shipping it.

So BMW isn't coming out with a 760? For the new 7er?

Wow. Well, if you need/want a car the size of a 7 (I don't, at least not yet, ha ha) this would be the one (assuming money is not an issue of course).

I wish Alpina would offer some decent paddle shifters but I know they don't feel those are becoming to the brand.

We don't know that yet, but as there is no TTV12 currently in production, it would be prohibitively expensive for Alpina to just create one out of thin air, or for them to use the old one (i.e. have BMW make it special just for them) and be able to EPA-certify it.

I don't even care about the performance figures, as staggering as they are. The interesting modification to me is the rear wheel steering.

Imagine the next gen M3 with carbon intensive chassis, performance oriented hybrid drivetrain (electrically assisted turbo a la F1, electric power front wheels for traction from dig and high speed dynamics etc) along with rear wheel steering. What a beast that would be!

Rear-wheel steering is actually available on the non-Alpina G12 as part of the Autobahn package. It isn't unique to the Alpina.

I disagree.

Alpina is like what Brabus is to BMW. Nothing authentic.

BMW M Gmbh is still the performance division of the BMW

Anyways:
Those wheels looks terrible and utterly disgusting. IMHO, I'd rather wait for the M760Li instead.
