It doesn’t look that nice, unfortunately. That one is lowered (which of course any owner can do) and they captured its best angle. There are a lot of angles where it still looks awkward

As the saying goes, "beauty is in the eye of the beholder." It's the reason why BMW can still sell cars with glaringly, massive beaver tooth style grills. Which is uglier an M4 or a C8 Z06? See how it's subjective?

Nevermind the fact that the C8Z looks like a straight up supercar. And neither the M3 nor the M4 looks anything remotely close to super.

As great as the M cars are, they're just top of the line economy cars of their respectable series.

Not at all my point. Maybe I shouldn't have said "it doesn't look that nice" from other angles because that implies subjectivity.

What I'm trying to say is, it actually, objectively, doesn't look like that from different angles. And that particular angle, specifically, cherry-picks a view that completely hides the disproportionality that my eye sees.

This is an unfair comparison because it's my quick, unstaged, phone cam shot in the hands of an amateur. But hopefully it can illustrate how different the side and rear quarter look from another angle.

But bottom line, this is why we need to see cars in the metal before forming an opinion.

Anyone try to get an allocation? Are dealers asking for a huge markup?

At this point either get on the long list with the big 2 for MSRP or pay huge mark up. I really hope they make as many as they can so anyone who wants one can get one.

Agreed. Most of the G8x owners had to convince themselves that it is a good looking car and are so sensitive abut their "truth", they won't let anyone who disagrees post in their forum. If that's not a sign of how ugly a car is, nothing is. I don't like the C8 Z06 but it's not even a comparison vs. the G8x. Apart from the ugly front end, the rear end on the G8x is the softest, most uninspired design I've seen on a BMW. Also, the G8x has the proportions and ride height of a small suv. Gross.

Sigh. The word subjective has appeared numerous times in this thread but there always has to be that guy that's oblivious to the meaning of the conversation. Closing your eyes to the fact that there are people out there that like the looks of the G8x is your "truth".

Sigh. And closing the G8x forum to dissenting views regarding the looks of the G8x is a sure way for a bunch of oblivious guys to avoid hearing what others think about the design and styling. e90335e36m3 used the word "most" thereby providing his recognition that some owners do in fact like the looks of the G8x.

So far this thread about the Z06 has enjoyed many attacks on its looks, but the ugly looks comments have not been shut down, because many potential C8 Z06 owners are secure in their own belief that the C8 Z06 looks good to them. And that's all that matters to them.

Unlike some forum G8x owners who seem to be prone to emotional breakdowns when others disagree with their subjective opinions. Hence the off limits and not tolerated comments.

The G8x at least can outrun the ugly. The fact that they saddled the basic 4er with that awful front is the real issue. Then they line it in chrome, but it's not even two kidneys, so it's just a mess.

I drove a Z3 M Coupe for years. I acknowledged that it was ugly, but damn it was fun. I think the G8x crowd not accepting that it's at least a wee bit awkward is part of the issue. It's like none of them have been to AA.

Exactly!!!! People get so upset at someone saying they don't like this or that. I'm on my 3rd M car. I've had cars from almost every manufacturer. Some good , some bad. This forum by far has the most "BMW is the only thing good to drive" members by far.

Even though i have a G80C, which is my FIRST ever BMW, i also came from corvettes. So i have a long history of them. My posts in this thread might be a bit biased but i am FAR from loyal to a particular brand. I just love cars. I don't look at a brand and say oh that's shit, even though it might be good, but i'll say it's shit because i'm loyal to another brand. Fuck that.

The only reason why corvettes was the only car that stuck with me the past 2 decades is because it's a proven formula that works.

A very fast, great looking, V8 race car for the road. I can't think of any other car like it, with the performance it has, for the money.

I paid under 70k for my C7Z BRAND NEW. What other car, that looks the way it does, that has 650/650, that has a 5 year 60k warranty? There is none.

And the same formula will apply to the C8Z. I feel bad for those who got on the wait list late or not on any wait list at all. Because this C8Z is actually THE REAL Z06. An NA mid engine supercar that has almost 700hp.

I expect GM to price this car at around 92-95k MSRP starting and my dealer, which is known to stay true to their word, will sell this car at MSRP. I don't know for how long, or for up to a certain number on the wait list. Since i'm under 200 on their wait list, i expect to receive my car this fall/winter.

As far as looks. There is no question. A blind man will choose the C8Z over the M3/M4 any day of the week.

I love my M3 but the front end is horrendous. Thank god it's fast and comfy.
