Rear seat wireless charging

Anyone know how to get the rear wireless charger to work. Can’t get mine to work and don’t have time to go to dealer. Was wondering if anyone else had this issue or maybe a video. I can’t find anything on youtube.

Did you turn it on in idrive? There is a setting for it. Vehicle apps/system settings.

I am a geek when it comes to reading car manuals.

(I am a geek when it comes to reading car manuals). Sometimes the old fashioned way is where the answer is.

It is included as an undocumented feature in the luxury rear seating package. That package includes additional rear power seat controls for the upper backrest and headrest, the headrest pillows and the rear wireless charger which are all undocumented. The documented features it includes are ventilated and massaging rear seats.

Here is the weird thing…I was looking for a car with luxury seating package, thinking that was the only way to get reclining/multi-function rear seats. I ended up getting one without it, after confirming that the i7 x60 did indeed have it standard, along with armrest wireless charging. The luxury rear seating package only added ventilated/massage seats. I did note that on the 740i and 760i, that this was not standard. Not sure about the e50. The way you can tell from pictures is that the rear seats have a straight line/crease between the left, middle and right cushions. On the cars that don’t have this feature, it is a diagonal line/crease.

You can also tell from the headrests. The multifunction seats have power headrests which when down fit into what looks like a half oval. The non power seats just have headrests which sit atop the seats and have no cut outs so to speak.

From what I can tell the i7 has standard power rear seats but not ventilated/massage which are part of lux rear seating. I thought the wireless rear charger was part of the lux rear seating pkg regardless of model. And undocumented. But maybe that's tied to the power seats and therefore standard on i7, and part of lux rear seating pkg on the 7 (since power rear seats are in the pkg on non i7).

There’s a setting in the menu I believe to turn on and off the rear wireless charger.

The setting seems to only be for the front wireless charger. It says disable wireless charging tray. But it doesn't specify front and back.

I have the rear charging pad, and my settings do not have two options. I'll double check but it was only one option. Maybe they're linked together in the US setting.
