headlight height adjustment

Where is the height adjustment screw for the driver side LH headlight on a G12? Is there a cover I need to remove?

What type of headlights do you have?
  • S5AZA BMW Laser headlight
  • S552A Adaptive LED headlight

US version: Remove the horizontal blocking before adjusting the headlamp
  1. Remove the cover above adjusting screws for the headlight adjustment.
  2. Adjust the height at the adjusting screw (1).
  3. US version: Set the lateral adjustment only if the plug on the adjusting screw for lateral adjustment is missing or damaged.
  4. Remove damaged plug if necessary (refer to additional information).
  5. Turn adjusting screw (2) for a correct lateral adjustment.

If you're still under warranty, is there a back story to why you need to adjust the left/driver headlight? Just curious because the adaptive headlights are designed to be lower & have a slightly different cut-off on the left to not blind oncoming traffic.

You can get an idea in the info below about BMW's variable light distribution.

S552A Adaptive LED headlight

The headlight was replaced recently under warranty as it would get condensation - only the left one, never the right. I think it is a little TOO low given where my eyes fall on the road while driving at city speeds - like off by about 3 feet as computed by where my eyes are on the road in front vs. the cutoff of the beam. So to gain 3 feet about 20 feet out(?) I am probably raising it about a degree. Yes, the right cutoff is further out as you have described and it will remain.
