At least stateside this is a new thing. The X3 M40 got it for the LCI. The M340 doesn't have it yet, but it wouldn't surprise me if it appeared in the LCI.

I just hope that the new 5 series will be a smaller version of this. Especially the interior design.

Love it. The haters will hate as they always do with every new BMW release. But it looks like it has way more presence than the new S. At 29 I'd take something designed for 18 year olds (as someone pointed out) over something designed for 81 year olds. Absolutely love the side profile and the front is bold and imposing. The only thing I'm not a big fan of is the rear because it suffers from W223 syndrome of looking utterly boring, but I'm sure it'll grow on me. I always preferred the W222 over the G11 but I'd take this any day over the W223. Just my 2 cents

A $100k+ car and the best they can do is put in a long ipad as a dash??

I've generally liked most new BMW designs, but first the hideous grill on the G8x models totally out of proportion with the rest of the car, and now this frankenstein parts bin machine from 1999 Korea.

Please Porsche, Audi don't start fing up your cars like this. Will there be any beautiful cars left besides Ferrari?

The EQS looks like a giant civic in the front. BMW really could have done much worse than this.

Yeah at first glance the lights look so odd. Then you see how busy the whole front end is and I just wonder what they are thinking. Oh well, I am not buying one.

So unfortunate to see where BMW design language has gone. Appreciating porsche more and more for keeping their iconic look alive. BMW will regret this one day when all the young folks growing up now only remember this sort of travesty as a "bmw"

the interior yes, i think the split headlight design is going to be reserved only for the 7, x7, and XM (pretty much the flagship BMWs).

I'm really warming up to the interior, it's pretty fkin dope. ICE or EV, the 7er's interior puts everybody to shame.

Exterior definitely falls flat compared to elegance and cohesiveness of the S-class, however the i7 is still much nicer than the EQS.

This is one of the ugliest cars BMW has produced since the 3 and 5 GT. It is an abomination. Period. When you consider the e38 and even the F01, this is just sad.

How can anyone say this holds its own against the new S class?

Let's just be absolutely clear: The new S-class is a shi*sho* both in terms of the launch itself as well as software, engine (V8) issues and driver operability.
I understand folks may not like the new design of BMW which again is always subjective, but claiming one of the worst launches of a vehicle in Mercedes history is better than an ugly looking yet technologically and mechanically refined vehicle is just plain blind.

To add insult to injury: Plenty of folks out there loving the new design, just as plenty as haters of the new design. I thought the X7 LCI looks way worse than the new 7 series. It does resemble more of a Rolls-Royce design language. Overall great! Really future-looking restructuring of the brand identity.

Lastly: haters gonna hate, potatoes gonna potate!

You aren't comparing like for like. I'm talking purely about aesthetics. Nothing to do with launch / tech etc.

This car is ugly.

AGREED!!! From a life long brand fan. I is atrocious.
The interior is on point. But I'd never buy a car for what's on the inside.

All of this.

The only positive thing to come out of this for me... Is my search for a very specific 7 (2020) later this year o a lease return, will have even more savings.
I my even consider a V12.

Tech over design… those split headlights are hideous, looks like Jeep Cherokee 2015 expensive rip off.

Interior rocks!

There is no flow in the design of that front end. Each individual aspect looks almost stand alone or from a different car entirely.
