Ring car cam- I've been meeting to get a car cam and was glad Ring came out with theirs as it can integrate with the Ring app for all the other Ring cameras I have around the house. It's pretty cool as it takes video in front and in the car and you can review past and real time footage through the app.
Was the Ring cam installation easy? Able to hide the wires, etc? Power source for the cam, is it hardwired into the car for power, or holds its own charge. Also does it record while the car is parked like a Tesla cam?

Why do you guys put dashcam? The car has it using built in cameras. The “Drive Recorder” app in iDrive does it all and records accidents or you can manually trigger saving the past 30 sec

Agreed. The drive recorder has limited capabilities. The ring Kirkham has much greater capabilities. The vehicle is used for work, so gives me extra protection on the liability side.

Besides, I like the integration of the ring camera and by the way it also records in front and in back.

The installation is really quite simple. The OBD two port is the one that plugs in for power and it is underneath the steering wheel to the left. It seamlessly plugs in. You can talk to wires in, so you don’t really see them.

Installation hint… The wire plugs into the right side of the camera, so before you permanently a fix the camera to the windshield, took the wire around to the left of the camera so the wire sits underneath the camera rather than above it. A little bit of the wire shows on mine because it’s tucked in front of the camera and you can’t push it under to make it completely invisible that way.

Sorry I’m responding here but since I’m a new user it doesn’t let me respond to private messages.

Rides very good considering they are 22’s and the car is lowered on sports mode. It does rub the front fender liner when turning the wheel all the way but it’s only the front part of the liner it will eventually stop rubbing once the plastic gets worn out a little. Also when on sports mode if going fast on the freeway the rear tires might rub if you hit a dip or bump. Overall for having aftermarket wheels and lowered car it drives great and looks wayyyyy nicer then stock wheels

I’ve been waiting to see someone post a wheel upgrade, I am looking to upgrade mine as well. The stock ones look ok but they are difficult to clean and hides the Msport brakes. Your upgraded wheels look great, I don’t plan on lowering the car at all but I’m hoping to find a nice luxury wheel that looks classy but still easy to clean, would be nice to find a wheel in a 21 inch size with a nice concave design. I will definitely check out the site you posted. Was the BMW emblem a choice for your center caps? By the way, it’s cool that they don’t rotate when the wheels are moving.

Mr Blue, I could have done bmw emblems but I think I like it the way it is. And thanks I get a lot of compliments on the setup.

I was thinking of ordering some wheels the other day and received a quote, the guy also mentioned that I would not get the look I wanted without lowering the car. Do you still have the auto leveling or raising function when lowering the car or does it work manually? The reason I ask is I have a somewhat steep driveway and it would definitely scrape the surface in sport mode so lowering would definitely do the same. Also long trips feel better to me in comfort mode. Wanted to see if you still had these options before placing an order. Thanks in advance!

Just got my car back getting the windows ceramic tinted and clear bra installed. Spent most of the morning cleaning it all up and put my new plates on. Hate having a front plate!

Thanks. I had them made for me by a friend in Asia with 21" forged wheels. I like them because they were completed quickly and inexpensively. It was $3,500 for four wheels.Name: IMG_1232.jpg

Yes. Basically, you can create it in any design and color you want. I liked the p200 design so I chose that.
