Correction… read the checkout notes and it says battery reset fixed the buttons. Perhaps software update triggers a battery reset too

I have the same issue with the front passenger side. Both the vent and door controls have not been working since day 1. At times the door control will illuminate but won't work.

For those that took it to the dealer and it was fixed with a software upgrade, how long did the whole process take?

My car was at the dealer for a day like I dropped off in the morning, got the loaner and picked up later in the day. However, it stopped working again after a day or so and going to the dealer later this week. I don't think software update (which I suspect triggers a battery reset) is the permanent solution. Will report back what they do the second time.

My car is at the dealer today to have this fixed, took about 3 months for the part to come in. Ironically the light bar on the front passenger door is now acting up. There’s a “hot spot” that’s always at mix brightness and always in a pink’ish color regardless of what I set the ambient light to

Mine now stopped working after being replaced. The replacement part lasted a few months. BMW dealer is checking on fixes. I think something is shorting the switch or it’s a software related issue. But, they are again having to order new light bar from Germany. Fun

Those of you that have the door: does the auto open on approach work? That’s supposed to be a feature, it’s referenced in the software and in the manual, but the option doesn’t seem to exist in the 2024s in the menus (atleast on a US specced one)

The open on approach is only available right now legally in Europe. USA hopefully coming soon. Game changer with those doors if it happens. Very cool OTA feature if and when it happens. Europe also has a diamond button on the key fob where we have a panic button. Theirs is configurable to open the door or doors with a push of the fob. I’d take that at this point.

My bmw assistant verbal commands still work to open and close the door. Door also opens when using the outside button. Just not the inside button.

Anyone have this issue?

I tried ‘resetting’ the car by holding down the music volume button for 30 seconds, system reset, but that didn’t seem to fix the button not working.
Try 70 seconds

It’s 70’s and it’s the whole system that it resets

The fix is to remove a fuse and reinstall. Or perform a full 12v battery reset. Headunit reset will not fix the display not illuminating. It’s fuse 36.

Thanks. Had this just happen to mine and popping out and re-inserting fuse 36 solved it (for now anyway).

It happend to my i7 now too, have it for just a month…
How did you take the fuze out? With the car turned on? Or off? Did you have wait before putting it in?
Some instruction would be very helpfull, I dont want to wait for the dealer to fix it, it will take months…

Unlock on approach works just fine with mobile resp. key.
I only got myself to set the open on approach setting right now - I'm sometimes waiting for the kids to come to the car and am not sure if it'll open/close the door too often/unneccessarily...

I configured it to open the 2 back doors but I stopped using the key on day 3 in favor of using the digital key (mobile).

I had the car turned off. Pulled out the fuse for a few seconds, plugged it back in and then turned on the car.

Basically, the equivalent of "turn it off and back on again" for everything behind the fuse (which likely keeps 12v power even when the car is off).

I can confirm. I tried it tonight by popping fuze 36 out and back in and then started the car, made it to work again!
Thanks a lot!
I hope it stays good… did you have to repeat the process since then?
