Just got home with the car. Wow, it’s amazing. Has a Fabspeed exhaust that is kind of over the top. It’s great for cruising, but it actually got a little tiresome at the end of the 2 hour highway drive home. I may put the stock exhaust back on it, but probably not.

I don’t think I got over 6K RPMs the entire drive home, but it’s not as fast as the M2 (which I expected). It does feel so effortless on windy sections though. The NA pull in the higher revs is an experience I haven’t had since my E46 and I’m not used to shifting a such a high RPM.

Overall, I’m absolutely thrilled with it. I got a 3 year warranty just in case of any expensive unforeseen issues.

Congrats and yeah, welcome to the club. If you got a proper PPI i suspect the warranty is wasted money.

The car looks good and I am not usually a fan of silver but it sits nice, and yeah once the oil temp is nudging 90 degrees, use the revs, that's what she's all about.

Generally I'd agree with that, but that's not the case with Porsche GT cars (and quite a few non-GT as well).
PADM faults are very common and can happen at any time doesn't matter if you track your car or not. And repair is quite expensive - just one mount costs $1,300. Plus Porsche mechanic' rate on top of that

Congrats, great to hear it worked out and you are enjoying it. I would say the 981 GT4 does sound pretty amazing stock, but for a 3rd car an over the top exhaust is never a bad thing.

You have got a dynamic duo there with the CS and the GT4, enjoy!

Congrats! As someone who has had two 718 GT4s they’re great cars.

I am not sure how much you’ve had a chance but there are some issues you should be aware of.

Suspension strut failures, gearbox failure, engine and transmission mounts and coil packs are areas to be on the lookout for.

Don't worry about it, drive it like you stole it, if something breaks then fix it. Simple.

Which circles back to the cost of the warranty. If it's a few grand over 3 years then ok but my guess is $4K to $5K a year. Some of this is a cultural thing, I find US buyers love to be over insured for peace of mind.

$5,400 for 3 years ($1,800/yr). I can cancel the warranty pro rata at any time. JLR inspected the car, but I want to have it at least until I have my local Porsche dealer give me the full detailed review. Of course certain things like the CCBs will be excluded as wear and tear items.

I need to see if things like engine mounts are covered and see if the transmission recall was done on the car, but the shifter and clutch are show no signs of wear, just perfect engagement.

I took it out last night on my local twisty roads and wow that is where it really shines. The mid-engine layout is really tremendous when pushed. I finally got it to redline a few times, it is such an occasion driving it. Still debating on swapping back to stock exhaust, but it’s really fun for 20-30 minutes cruises.

Great group on this forum; I really appreciate the feedback and well wishes.

That's better than I expected, personally i'd do a year then walk, it either has issues or it doesn't.

I commented earlier that I felt people were being unrealistic in their fussiness, but I am surprised you bought the car without a local Porsche Indy PPIng the vehicle top to bottom. Is bore scoring an issue on these engines? I have no idea, but if so, you need a scope asap, as in yesterday.

You may wan to hit the Porsche forum to see if there's an easy/cheap solution to quieten the exhaust by 10-pc if it is othering you, I suspect the stock one will be too quiet and now youre spending money getting it where you want it.

Congrats! Looks great.

Did you let us know upthread which silver it is? Looks like GT Silver to me, one of my favorite Porsche silvers.

Appears as though bore scoring is rare but still a thing. I strongly recommend a bore scope asap, 99% chance all is good but if you're unlucky, best you know now.

I am not usually a fan of neutral colours but his car looks good, not sure why tbh... it just does.

Thanks. Yeah, it’s GT Silver. The wheels are refinished in silver vs the darker platinum grayish, which I think helps along with the yellow calipers for the CCBs.

I took it to Porsche on Saturday and only the sales team was there, and I asked about getting it the shop for review. He said he would set up an appointment for me, but said the paint and overall condition was amazing and he was surprised that it was under $100K.

I’m part optimist and part impatient with going for the car that looked like the spec I wanted. Maybe I put too much faith into a Land Rover dealer, but I also felt like the warranty would be a decent safety net.

Hoping I can leave it as is for now without another big investment and it seems to drive perfectly. I’m also keeping the exhaust for now. It’s a riot.
