looks like they are keeping hamilton (and the car) away from any presentations right now. not even going to bring to the constructors champion presentation.

Practice for dealing with idiots…Not saying it’s practical training for all areas lol, but attorneys in IP are (sometimes) like this when they are treading in unknown tech. They’ll try to argue up is down for their team.

The F1 Mercedes AMG car was for many consecutive years the strongest of the field and Hamilton had/has most credentials and accolades of all drivers competing. An invincible combination, at least on paper. But still, despite the excellent team, tools, tricks of the trade and tons of experience, he was outsmarted and pipped by a driver 12 years his junior who managed to get the world driver's title that Hamilton and his team had taken for granted. Hamilton and his team underestimated their main rival. The last lap at the Abu Dhabi race was emblematic for the 2022 season, a pars pro toto: closer than close can be, but not enough for Hamilton. The 2022 season was not just 1 race - it was preceeded by 21 others. Actually, Hamilton did not "lose" the F1 WDC in the Abu Dhabi race - no, he simply "fell short" getting it.

Masi should not have dictator-like power. If regulation 15.3 gives him FULL control to use the safety car as he pleases, that means he doesn't even need an accident or any sort of incident to justify the use of it. If there is driver with a huge lead and the crowd is bored with the lack of a battle, Masi could exercise his right to deploy the safety car with the sole intent of bunching the field back up to give others a chance to win. That scenario is just as ridiculous as what happened in Abu Dhabi. Is that acceptable in sports? Most people emphatically think it's not acceptable.
If Mercedes doesn't withdraw their appeal, maybe we'll get an answer to what lengths the race director can go to directly manipulate the outcome of a race as he sees fit. |

The telling words from Masi were that it's a motor race and ready to go with the pace car not needed any more, time just ran out for Ham. |

Changing the way safety cars are handled without notifying teams exactly what change was taking place to allow them at least some time to react and make a decision was terrible because that prevented Mercedes from believing they had an option to pit without forfeiting the race. That's not a matter of getting lucky or unlucky, that's a race official making a direct decision to provide a team with a huge advantage and influence the outcome of the race. Had Mercedes gave up track position and pitted only for the race to end behind the safety car, it would suck but that outcome would be 100% legitimate under the rulebook and Masi couldn't be blamed for anything. |

Some interesting remarks here ("A changing of the guard? Our writers give their verdict on Max Verstappen’s title-winning 2021 season").

From the AMG Petronas statement:
"...it's something different when you lose your faith in racing." This...thankfully I think the FIA is actually aware that this not an isolated feeling. |
