It's doing well. They had some horrible episodes (#2 and #3) and some mediocre ones. However, it's the boys, and they're bad in the saddle.
Two things they need to immediately ditch is Conversation Street and really stupid fake killing off of celebrities. I am now FFing through those, they are consistently horrid segments and take away from the rest of the show. I understand that they have to something more than show premade video for the travelling studio audience, but come up with something better. It can't be hard to come up with better than putrid. Kabitz with the audience, have a REAL guest on the show, etc. |

The killing off celebrities bit would be far funnier if they were more "prominent" personalities and not necessarily celebrities
The 2 part desert show was quite good I thought And how can you go wrong with "Battleship" with cars......and blowing up prepper vehicles with HE ordinance can never get old. |

I'm got damn tired of dead celebs. I think i'm at the dune buggy special definitely like that 1 or 2 episode. Get mike skinner out of there he sucks ass butt cow hole. The show doesn't have it's own identity yet still waiting for it to do that also. all in all it's entertaining and it's the only reason why I have prime.

Much rather they kill the celebs than interview them. Keep it coming.

Well compared to the new top gear it is killing it. Compared to their top gear, not so much.
I think some producers got in there and messed with the wires a bit. Seems a bit more acted than the usual slapstick, 3 stooges vibe. I think they will get it sorted. If not there are reruns. |

I find it decent right now. The American needs to go, and celebrity brain crash as well. The show overall gives off this 'somethings missing' vibe to it. I'll give it some time in hopes it gets better.

Celebrity Brain Crash is wasted space; I'd rather see it filled with more antics. "The American" seems to be a great driver, but I'd rather they had someone like Randy Pobst doing it for them. (Though there are probably good reasons that they didn't choose him.)

The Grand Tour is the best entertainment car related show out there.
Main attributes: -Character Chemistry -Massive Budget -Great Premise for the series (its basically a giant tour/vacation of the world) -Great camera work I could do without: -The American (yea I get what they're going for, I don't like his jokes and they could have found a better racer/character to drive and talk) -The movie star/braincrash (we are all over it) Things to improve: -The track where they test cars (really? that was the best they could do with budget) -The news, could be much better...like the older days. Talk about cars more! -Instead of having characters on the show for interviews, they could include them in challenges and such as they've done before. This (I assume) would infringe on top gear's rights. Improvements since the trio hosted Top Gear: -I feel like they speak more freely now, more so than before -The tent, awesome. Keep travelling...come to CANADA PLEASE!!! It's what I expected, and that makes me happy. I'll continue to watch. . Last edited by 3GFX; 01-16-2017 at 04:25 PM.. |

Only watched the first 5 episodes. The chemistry was still there, but the episodes were just so boring.
What I liked about TG were all the car reviews, comparison tests, and specials showing them driving through distant countries. GT didn't seem to have much of any of that. The car reviews they did have didn't involve any new or exciting cars. |

I was not a fan of the first episode but after they got over themselves and how amazing they are I started to enjoy it. The American is interesting but I'd prefer the stig or someone who comments on the actual qualities of the car instead of stupid off the cuff jokes.
I am not a fan, nor was I ever of the celebrity interviews. As others have said I'd prefer they did more actual car comparisons/reviews during that time. Overall much better than the new Top Gear and I am enjoying it.

Agreed with others that celebrity brain crash got old after half of the original skit. Needs to go. The American is annoying. It was maybe funny the first time. Things do seem a bit too scripted.
Outside of that I find it entertaining. The cinematography is amazing. It's not Top Gear, it can't be, so you must get over that. My 8 year old loves it. He turns it on as soon as he gets home from school on Fridays or when he was on winter break as soon as he woke up. He literally fell off the couch laughing when Clarkson got his ass stuck in the building window. |

I agree with most others above...
The American is a good driver but the comments get old. He should have some constructive comments on the actual car rather than just nonsense about how everything sucks. And Celebrity Brain Crash is terrible. It was fun the first time but now it's just dumb and a waste of time. And yes, the cinematography is insanely beautiful. You can definitely see the higher budget in the production. I don't think there's any other program with more beautiful shots.

Haven't seen the latest one yet, but it seemed to be getting better and better. Less forced and more car focused with better challenge/travel bits. May's bit on Ferrari and Ford at Lemans was quite good. The 'Merican' driver is really getting stale and it seemed like even they are getting tired of celebrity death march. They need to realize that they really are at their best when they're unscripted and playing off each other.

Episode 1 was good..b/c M2 and M4 GTS. Had high hopes. After that...meh. Kept watching most of them just b/c I desperately wanted to like it. Just watched dune buggy ep 1 and that was good. Back to the old magic.
Things that suck about the show: -It's not as well written as top gear -Not enough real car talk -Hate the American, and the shit track -Other segments are mediocre Obviously it took a lot of years to perfect the formula of TG. And they probably had a way, way bigger budget. I just hope enough people watch it to help it evolve into something even better than TG. |

Need more car action in the show! Less Brain Crash and Conversation Street with that stupid shadowing.
Rid the American - the actual person not the segment. Would like to have a longer and faster track as well. Second season may bring some surprises. |

Its always been scripted, the thing is they've really done everything.
If you've watched top gear all the way through you can tell they reuse some of the same premises and contests. Even interactions. I still love it. |
