They each have their strengths…. The GRC actually makes the best daily driver.

I think all manufacturers are going this direction with regards to brand ethos and what you have to pay to experience it.

Back in the day, you could buy the lowest trim 3-Series and still come away knowing you're driving a BMW. Today, you almost have to step up to a 40i or the top trim to really get that BMW feeling. From your experience, it seems like you came away with the same conclusion with the Boxster/Cayman.

We're in the "Pay-to-Play" era of car buying.

Man I dunno about you but I get shivers when I even see a BMW roundel. Its even better if I'm inside sitting on base fleet car grade seats. I know I've made it. There's these great colorful badges you can get at the BMW store to decorate your rear lettering too, I wish they were more than three colored stripes with M next to them though. My wife wants some in her initials, that would be great.

Brand ethos.

In NC most of my driving is up and down mountain roads with minimal traffic and IMO that's where the miata and other lower power, great handling cars shine. I did have my mustang in NC for a while before I sold it and honestly not nearly as fun as the miata here on the winding roads. So yeah I think it depends.
Agree, having owned vettes and a Miata in New England, the Miata was more fun on twisty backroads.
Here in coastal SC a Miata would lose a lot of the magic due to flat straight roads.

Miatas are like mopeds, you have a blast while riding them, but you don't want your friends to find out...

Wait, thats not how the saying goes.. was it miatas? Or was it fat chi... hmmm

Miatas make a great auto-x platform or short course racer. Fast in corners, but not so much on straights. It's especially great for track dayers or racers that are still learning. Would I want one for a street car? Meh, probably not. Me personally I don't know that it'd be that exciting driving one. On the track I like sharp handling, feeling the surface and simplicity, on the street I like comfort and well rounded performance. But I have a Grom and I find that far more fun to rip around on vs my big bikes, so maybe the Miata would be the same.

My dream is a 911 GT3, and at this point it wouldn't matter if it were a 991 or 992, but the Porsche tax means I'll likely have to start with a 991 Carrera S. I've looked into the 718 and from my understanding they perform similar to the 911, but with more street comfort in mind vs track performance, and because of that I've heard a few folks mention they were let down by them, but I think they were expecting a 911 GT3 experience.

What you need is a 991.1 GTS, arguably the finest sports car FOR THE ROAD ever made. I'd prefer the 997 myself but the 991 is so much more civilised and it sounds like you want civilised.

x2, had many 911s including a GT3. The 991.1 GTS is the best street car.

My only real experience is driving a 991 GT3. Everyone warned me it would be uncomfortable and raw, but I found it very enjoyable. I didn't find it uncomfortable at all even after 5 hours non-stop in the seat. Noise, drone, rough ride, none of it was an issue. I felt quite at home in it.

I have another year before the X5 is paid off, then it's time to shop for a 911. Until then I'm hoping to find a couple more variants to check out for comparison.

On your first drive you're not noticing it because you're having fun but I can promise you definitely notice the harsh ride if you drive it all the time, go over speed bumps, steep inclines, in parking garages, etc. Yes it's certainly tolerable and the car is amazing but for daily street driving the GTS is better.

i definitely love my 718 Cayman! i would never trade or sell it. I've pushed the 718 pretty damn hard keeping up with my fellow GT3, GT3RS friends in the Smokey Mountains as well as The Tail of the Dragon. I will say i will be adding a GT3 to the stable after getting a ride in my buddy's 991.1 GT3!

Need to jump in on the NA love. Fun car for four years as a daily. Needed a bigger vehicle and went with an F-250 CC 6.0 Powerstroke 6MT. A different kettle of fish.

I had a Carrera White 911 and loved it. I would definitely do that color again.

The 7.3L in my F250 makes the truck seem pretty fast for what it is. Throttle response is okay but I think the delays can be programmed out.My wife drives it a lot too so I haven’t looked much into that.

Not daily driving it but it does 15-16mpg unladen. It’s not good but it’s not as bad as I thought it would be. Now if I put my truck camper and jet skis on the back….hello 10mpg.

Gas is back down to $3 a gallon here for 87 so it was $75 for a fill up.

Transportation fuel cost as a percent of personal income in the U.S. has declined over the years. It’s becoming a nothing burger.
