Blind Spot

BMW’s blind spot warning system, does it give any kind of audible warning? Mine doesn’t, only the flashing light on the mirror. Am I missing an iDrive setting?

The steering wheel should vibrate as well, if you have it set up to do so.

Bummer! I will need to use my eyes. Thanks for the clarification.

I disabled that. It startles me.

not to threadjack but do you have issues with the blind spot detection system like not detecting? I am in traffic watching cars drive by me and my lights don't turn on all the time. A car 1/4 of the price has better BSD than this. Is it all G11s or just my car?

No issues here with my blind-spot monitoring.
However, only visible flashes no audible warning.
I did have a Lexus that flashed and had audible warning that was nice.

Only time I have noticed this is on the near side mirror.

If I drive past a car with more than (I'm guessing) +5mph difference in speed then my near side mirror doesn't warn me of the car. I'm assuming it thinks I'll be past at that speed before pulling back in.

However the offside always warns me regardless of the speed the car overtaking me is doing.

BMW's blind spot warning only activates under certain conditions (see OM for detail), as opposed to others makes in which the warning activates whenever there's another car in the blind spot position. Germans sometimes make things more complicated than necessary.

I would not want audible warnings for the blind spot monitor. For me, the blinking lights in the side mirror and wheel vibration are plenty notification/warning.
