BimmerCode BDC Update
BimmerCode has had an update that now enables more stuff in the Body Domain Controller such as when the fog lights are on (something I had asked about in the past).

Thank you. Will have a look later. Another project to do when in our current social distancing mode.
Bimmercode is very good. IMHO much easier than Carly, which I've never gotten to work properly.

Just used Bimmercode to make "Adaptive" my default driving mode. Earlier I had made the car remember the last position of auto start/stop, put temperature into the tire pressure monitor, and allowed close of trunk with key press. All very easy if you follow directions. One thing to remember for the G series is you have to give the start/stop button three quick presses to go to diagnostic mode. Then just go to the module you want and Bimmercode is basically self explanatory. I've not tried expert mode yet, because I haven't felt the need.

there are restore points for each coding change, but no "revert ALL to default" button. Then again, I don't think there's any change you can do with BC that would necessarily raise an eye brow at the dealership and void your warranty. Best practice is to keep a log of all the changes you've made. Some changes can be undone by choosing the default value, but others have to be "reverted" or "restored" because the default value is "undefined."

I have had coding done in the past by others and never had an issue with a dealer. Of course if the need to update the car's software, all individual coding changes would be lost but it is not a big deal simply to do them again.

You won't run into any issues with the dealer anyways. I've been coding my BMWs for as long as i can remember. It's never voided any warranties. It's software and doesn't affect the power train.

I use BimmerCode with a eNet cable and iPhone Ethernet adapter, so I’ve had access to the BDC module for awhile now. For those who don’t know, the coding via eNet cable and iPhone is incredibly fast. It connects, reads, and codes within around 2 seconds. My old Bluetooth adapter would takes ages.
I originally changed the BDC setting to have the car start in Adaptive drive mode, however, after lots of testing I found that the ride wasn’t as soft or smooth as being in “Comfort Plus” mode. So I reverted the car back to starting in Comfort mode. I just wish you could have it start in Comfort Plus mode by default. |

*Enet cable - just search EBay for “BMW Enet cable”. I paid around $18. *iPhone adapter - Just search for “Lightning to Ethernet iPhone adapter”. I paid around $15. When you get them, just select “Enet cable” as your connection method in the BimmerCode app, then you can enjoy super fast coding and full option availability! |

When the AE’s went LED around the 2010/11 model year...that even fueled the flames more for owners to make their incandescent or halogen “halos” brighter so they could be like the new style “corona” rings that were lit by LEDs. Those that did try to update their incandescent & halogen AEs were sometimes disappointed that the halos were still washed out when the bi-xenon or regular HID headlights washed them out. So I’ll assume the option to code the brightness of the corona rings is to compensate for the newer laser and LED headlights if they washout the corona rings...thus reducing the visual affect the rings produce.
