It's funny how in every 7 series thread there's a whole lot of people on the MB bandwagon who come to bash the new 7 and anyone who likes it. Everyone has their opinion. If you think the S-class is all that good, by all means please go buy one (if you can afford it), but that doesn't give you the right to insult someone who thinks otherwise. It's starting to get old now and makes you look rather pretentious.

And no, I don't think the S-class looks better than this:

I think the old one wins the m sport front (new too busy on the bottom), new one wins the non m sport front, and new one wins all other angles. If they fixed that disconnected lower diffuser on the m sport front, it would win all angles for me.

The S Class isn't going anywhere. Somewhere in Germany, MB executives are laughing cause they know that the S Class will keep its crown in this segment.. Especially in sales where it really matters. All one has to do is look up the various models, such as the S600 Maybach edition, the S Class Coupe, and the S63/65 AMG models to know how much ground BMW needs to make up. MB is busy making ultra-luxury and here, we all getting excited over hand gesturing.
BMW's ultra luxury car brand is Rolls Royce. The high end S class models are trying to compete with the various Rolls models. I highly doubt BMW will try to cannibalize Rolls Royce sales by moving the 7 series up higher than it already is.

Besides E38, all 7 series have been crappy looking. Including this new one.

Seriously, one terrible looking car. Nothing about the exterior looks quality or nice and the interior is the same recycled garbage they put in every other car.

The 7 series like most of their cars continue to get worse looking.

I agree. This looks like more of an LCI than a redesign. The tech is a move in the right direction but the overall design (exterior and interior) lacks creativity.

It would have weighed less had the not crammed it full of features that didn't exist before. The Jaguar weighs slightly less but has precisely ZERO of the technology in this car. The closest car in terms of features and technology is the S-class, and it weighs about 600+lbs more than the new 7-Series.

Thanks for the comparison. Would be cool if somebody could do the same with the new 7er and the S-class.

I don't know which is worse, saying "wrong" to a "+1" or being childish enough to think you can call one's OPINION wrong and state your own OPINION as fact. Are you 4?

I'll just go ahead and form my own opinions just the same, right or wrong

It's a pretty good progression. I like it.

Trust me, knowing how bmw marketing boys are, the weight given in the press are exactly for cars with exactly ZERO of tge tech they announced. If you add gesture control - cause Its so much easier to wave my finger at the control instead of using the one on the steering wheel - this car will weight almost as much as the S class. I will give you one thing: bmw are THE best brand at marketing. In that department all others follow. What do you the couple of bits of cf they slammed there was for? So they could claim "1st production car in the world with cf or whatever". If you think it was for weight reduction get some water and wipe the sand off ur eyes mate

I'm waiting to see it in person. Recent generations of BMW's seem not to overly impress me when seen in pictures, other story when I have a chance to see them life. Not sure if it's only my impression, or you guys think that too? New car looks MASSIVE to me. Tail is kind of similar to current Audi A8 which I don't like, but still looks better than Audi. Funny thing, but today's best looking tail in big sedans probably belongs to Hyundai Genesis... I really like the new mirrors design in this BMW. Interior is also nice, I see that they added some more practical door handles.

That line is still there, just the angle of the photo doesn't show it.

This side view clearly shows the same line.

I think the G is more muscular than the F, look how more flared the fenders are. The front is also much more aggressive. It doesn't have the "dog nose" profile the F had.
