Navigation Maps for Costa Rica?

We are taking our X1 to Costa Rica in a few months and I am having trouble finding maps for our Nav System. I find North America and South America but no Central America. I was hoping CR was in the South America region but I cannot find an answer. Has anyone on the forum face conquered this one? Thank, Bill

I would download SA and see if it's in it.

Two questions..

1. Can you suggest a sight for the download and any idea about price?
2. When you download does it add to your maps or does it wipe them out.

Thanks, Bill

Oh ok that might be a bit complicated if you are not to familiar. I had searched the internet for a torrent to get my updated NA maps there was also a forum post showing how to then put the maps on the iDrive... I can't find it right now though.

As for number 2 I think it wipes over them. But like I said, you can also find 2018 NA maps so worse case you then load/write the NA maps when you're back.

Hello! I'm originally from Costa Rica, my advice to you is don't waste your time and money trying to get nav maps for your X1. We have a very poor way of giving directions (everything is referential, not by numbered streets, so for example instead of saying go to 123 named street, we say "go to the old liquor factory and from there 300m east"). So you won't find much use out of the nav other than seeing where you are on the map.

Instead of that, I suggest taking your cellphone and buying a prepaid sim card (data is relatively cheap and coverage is great on the main cell provider Kolbi). Then use the cellphone and navigate with Waze. Costa Rican businesses are more prone to sharing a link so you can navigate to them directly on Waze /Google maps.

Good luck and enjoy your time there!
