Porsche Cayenne GTS

Not a huge fan of SUVs...or Porsche SUVs for that matter...but I have to admit...it's one of the better looking Cayenne that I have seen.

Take a look...the new Cayenne GTS:

http://www.porsche.com/microsite/cayennegts/usa.aspx

Based on the Cayenne S. Faster and lighter than the Cayenne S...but likely still slower than the Cayenne Turbo.

4.8l V8
405 hp @ 6500 rpm
369 lb ft. @ 3500 rpm
0-60 5.7 seconds (.9 seconds slower than quoted time for Cayenne Turbo)

Nice looking, but boy is that thing going to be expensive; probably more than most lux SUVs. I just don't think that most ppl want/need SUVs that go fast from 0-60mph/1/4 mi...not that it's a bad thing.

I just got my wife a loaded MB GL450 with a 4.7L 335HP/339 lb.-ft. TQ V8. It's not as fast as the Cayenne GTS, but it's certainly more useful...it's AWD, it has 3 rows (3rd row that folds down/up with a touch of a button), a huge rear cargo space, 2 DVD screens for the 2nd row, Navi, Keyless Go (same as the BMW Comfort Access), Bluetooth, Voice Control, HK Logic7 stereo system w/ Sirius Sat Radio, Rear-View Camera, Power Tailgate, Multi-Zone A/C with 6 rear vents, Bi-Xenon Active Lights w/ Cornering Fog Lights, Power Folding Side Mirrors, Parktronic Warning System, 7-speed Auto tranny, Automatic Air Suspension, 19" Sport wheels/tires, Running Boards, etc.

Yes, it was expensive (MSRP >$73k), but my wife loves it (and I don't mind driving it either ); it's got everything in it and it's very large, comfortable, and does 0-60mph in ~ 6.4 sec...not bad for a full-size SUV that weighs 5,400 lbs!

Anyway, the Porsche is nice, but for spirited driving, I'd rather drive my PROcede 335i, and for hauling around the wife and kids, I'd rather be in my MB GL450...just my opinion.

Dont let it distract you from the fact that it the platform needs an overhaul. New bumpers and headlights and a little more power wont convince me.

Cayenne S is rated for 13/18 mpg, so this GTS is probably about the same; a heavy foot means ~ 10/16 mpg though.

my gf just traded in her E92 335i for a cayenne S. i have the AA xede in my car and we raced once. that suv is pretty fast. i really think it would give a g35 or 350z a run for its money. ive driven both of those. and the Cayenne in manual mode really jumps off the line and it pulls hard.. its waayy faster than the new X5 4.8 fully loaded. my mom has it. its not that fast.. the cayenne S is a real monster.. never driven the turbo. i cant imagine what thats like!

Guys, get a grip! It's a truck! I don't care if it says "BMW", "Porsche" or "Ferrari", it's still a truck and drives like a truck. I drove an X5 hoping to be "wowed", that the BMW would offer a sporty ride more like a big car than a Jeep or Explorer, but no; it's a truck and always will be. Sure, it goes fast in a straight line, but who cares? It will always handle and ride like a truck...I have grown to appreciate handling so much more since I moved to Germany and its windy roads.

^ true its a truck....and given this is a P-truck it probably still handles worse than a P-car maybe more like a beemer? ..lol... my g/f's uncle has a Cayenne S and let me spin that thing around town on the weekend and I would have to say I was greatly impressed....

look at that orange one! move over range rover sport! i think the cayenne just pwned you for that color ...lol

I bought my wife a '08 Cayenne Turbo and let me tell you: it is NOT a truck. In normal mode, it is a luxo cruiser, fast, comfy and luxurious. Press the sport button and hit the mountain roads: it is a real sports car with a lot of grip and a very neutral balance.

Quite incredible what Porsche can do for such a heavy vehicule.

The new GTS, with its Turbo look and its 6-speed manual must be sweet.

PS: I hope Shiv will develop a PROcede for the Cayenne Turbo

I completely agree. Test drove the last gen Cayenne S, X5 4.8, Touareg V8 back to back to back a couple years ago, and the Cayenne is a whole different experience.
