Lane Keeping assist

I have trouble with Lane Keeping Assist recognizing my hands on the steering wheel. If I don't have 2 hands on the steering wheel or if i don't firmly grip the steering wheel, the alert goes off. I was wondering if this issue has been fixed in newer BMW's.

Also, do newer models ding when the LKA deactivates. Nothing worse than veering into other lanes because you think the stupid thing is active.

It can be coded so that you dont need to keep your hands on the steering wheel.

Mine does not ding and the hands on wheel works pretty well. I do not need to grip tight. If you code it to allow hands free, IMHO you are asking for trouble, especially in case of an accident. If a lawyer ever found that you were driving hands free, you'd be cooked.

Is there anything I can bribe you with to tell me what setting to change to do this? Or to do it for me?

Leaving aside that I have the same problem as the OP (it seems my skin doesn't create the right capacitive touch or electrical 'signal' for the steering wheel to know I am touching it... I have the same problem with some touchscreens)... but also it TOTALLY defeats the reason for paying the extra $$$ for Driving Assistant Professional and the Tech Pack Plus when I have to keep both hands on the wheel for it to sense I am there, and when in about 80% of instances it flashes yellow and then red (even with both hands on the wheel) because it can't see my hand there until I tap or move the steering wheel slightly??

I dont think its capacitive or touch thing ...its about weight

Try to move the steering wheel gently even with 2 fingers it should work fine
