Auto Dimming Mirrors

Hello all,

I currently have a ‘24 760i loaner while my XB7 is getting the transfer case replaced. Overall I’m very much in love with the car as it reminds me how much I enjoyed my previous G12 750i.

Quick question: Both the rearview mirror and the driver side exterior mirror seem to be stuck in “night mode” where they are electronically dimmed. The passenger mirror is totally normal.

I searched the owners manual for a solution to no avail. Any idea what could be going on? Thank you in advance.

Check the ambient light sensor which is on the back side of the interior rear view mirror. It faces the windshield and facilitates the amount of dimming based on ambient light. See #6 in illustration below:

Thank you so much for the reply. This was totally the issue as the dealer placed a sticky RF transmitter directly over the the ambient light sensor. Appreciate your help.

WOW! Thanks for the update…kind of hard to think the dealership covered it with a stick on transmitter (they should know better).

I was thinking the sensor may be blocked by something hanging from the mirror…but not actually applied to it.
