Keep Roof Sunblind open all the time?

Hello!

Did you found settings for keeping roof sunblind open all the time? Mine is closing when the car is locking. And I have to open it manually each time starting car.

That's funny. I set mine to close automatically when the car locks, but for some reason it likes to stay open when I leave the car. That's my only true glitch (thank gawd I don't have so am not vexed by the oft-reviled haunted eSim...!).

Same that's why I turned it off. And then when it does work, I wish there was an option for it to open when you unlocked which they don't have.

It must have something to do with the theater screen.

I’ve two G70, one with the theater screen and the second without.

The one with closes the roofshade every time i lock the car. The one without doesn’t.

I can’t change it on the one with. The other has a menu point allowing to close it, but I’ve never tried it. Will try it tomorrow if this works.

And don't get me wrong. I CAN open and close it inside the car with various buttons and/or through voice commands (maybe you as well), but if I were driving around with it opened and stopped at a restaurant or shopping plaza, etc., I'd LIKE it to automatically close when I leave the vehicle since I have the feature switched on. Sometimes it works, and sometimes I find -- don't know how -- that the slider switch for that feature has somehow been set to "off." Must be the mischievous Mercedes gremlins playing around when the car is in the garage, right?

I won't live or die either way and I know (maybe even expect) that with such a plethora of high-tech features, SOMETHING is bound to go wrong. It'd be nice to "say" that everything works perfectly, but all I can say to anybody -- and mainly myself -- is that almost everything works perfectly. CAN BMW actually "do better?" Tall order.

I dont have the theatre screen but I do have the option in the lock/unlock menu settings to close the shade when locking. It only works half the time though.

In the previous iteration of comfort access (prior to the proximity feature that allows lock/unlock as you walk up to or away from the car)...comfort access would close or open the sunroof (and windows) if you press and held the button on the remote or kept your finger on the CA door handle ridges.

Since the newer BMWs that have the proximity Comfort Access feature...perhaps if you actually touched the car, you could also get the windows/sunroof to close (if so desired).

I have the theater screen and I haven't changed any settings (just got the car so I'm not sure where the relevant setting is yet). The shade was open last night when I parked and locked the vehicle. It was still open this morning. So it didn't close automatically.

I can open and close the power roof blind with the physical button on the ceiling, by the windscreen, but voice commands will not open or close the roof blind and the option to open and close via iDrive also does not work.

Side and rear blinds can open and close via button, voice or iDrive though. I guess a weird quirk for me. Does not seem worth it to make a Service appt., but I wish voice commands or iDrive could control the roof blind (as it should).

And fixing the auto time zone setting would be nice, which is plaguing a lot of cars running 8.5 would be nice. I had to manually set the time, as it would not take me out of Berlin

My 2024 i7 60 has a power roof blind, so the glass pano roof can be covered and not let any light in.

Okay. I thought that was what you meant. That is a different system than the window blinds. Idrive seems to leave out the roof in favor of the buttons.

No German outside of Bavaria would ever say something like that.

HA -- I LIVED for several years in Bayern/Bavaria in Neu Ulm myself, and I would say Bullshit Technology. But in fairness, let's just call it quirky with a mind of its own.

I'm assuming it gets into a state where it thinks it needs to be "calibrated" and opening/closing all the way manually with the switch is usually enough to get it working with the voice/idrive mechanisms again.

That, or it's possessed since it seems to like to close on it's own overnight sometimes.

Mine will open or close now with the physical button or via iDrive. But, voice commands will not open or close the roof blind. Yay BMW
