New G11 750i
Hi all,
I have picked up my new MY18 G11 750i a few weeks ago. First time I have bought a demo car. This was a demo car from BMW Netherlands. Speced to (almost) the max. I am very happy with it. I drove a MY14 F10 535d which I adored. Very quick (stage 1 tuning 380 hp/750 nm), great drive (modded suspension) and great mileage. It was getting 5 years old and I was planning to drive with it for a few years. But then this car was offered at a price almost too good to be true. And a trade-in value for my 535d was good as well. Because of diesel-gate you need to be happy to get rid of a diesel car now here in this part of Europe... So my car is Singapur Grey with Black Nappa Leather interior. Alcantara headlining, piano black trimmings and ceramic controls finish the interior nicely. MSport package is essential IMHO. Tech wise it got almost all the bits and pieces. B&W audio, Driving Assistant Plus, Executive Pro with 4-wheel steering, Remote Parking, Rear Entertainment and 4 electric/ventilated massage seats. One of the options I still need to know more of is the 'M Sport Exhaust System'. The cold start sound is pretty impressive, my wife hears me from a few 100 yards away coming so it must do something. But looking at the price (+- €500) I think this is only tuning of the engine sound through the speakers. Mods will come as well. Slippy Diff on order (had one on the 535i and 535d. World of difference) Stage 1 tuning (+- 530 bhp) Need some advise on using the entertainment with Iphone. Suspension wise I will probably keep it standard for the time being. Need to 'study' the possibilities. Just lowering is not what I am after; I live out of town and need some ride height.. Wheels... Big doubt. As soon as winter hits here the current 20" will be promoted to winter wheels. For the next summer I want to buy a set of 21". Doubting between OEM Style 629 or Alpina Forged. Not sure if I want to go too aftermarket. Brakes; need to dive in the M-Sport brakes BMW has on offer. First see how quick these ones are fading (normal motorway use) Looking forward to read here further on other mods and owner reviews!

Lovely car and great spec. I also went from a 2014 535d to a 750, it’s a nice step up.
To get the full sound from the M Sport exhaust you need to be in Sport mode and have the gear selector to the left in Sport Auto. If you open the door you can hear the valves open and the noise change. I was in Birmingham on Monday and it sounded amazing in the tunnels! No fake engine noise in the 750i, only the M760 and 750d have a sound generator. |

Thanks Martin. I will try that.
I configured the sport mode to be all sport except the gearbox. It becomes to nervous IMHO. The cold start of the car is quite impressive to be honest.

It runs on Bridgestone S001 RFT. I am normally a big anti-RFT guy but these tires surprise me until now. Good grip; little noise.
My F10 I always ran on Michelin PSS/PS4 non-RFT. Better tire performance-wise but a bit noisy. In wintertime so far Continental TS810 and TS850 did the job to my satisfaction.

I have fitted Continental TS860S on the 648's. Winter tyre with v-max of 270 km/h. Non-RFT though..
Best update will come Monday. An OS-Giken LSD! Sniff my Diff!

Some further updates!
The limited slip differential is brilliant. Traction is a whole lot better and if you feel like having less or no traction the diff with the power is awesome. In wet conditions I started having traction from 4th gear to 5th... I did a drifting day as you can see below The car is offcourse way to have for a 'track' like this but boy did I have fun! Winter is about to be over here; so time for new Summer Wheels. Styling 629 it is. 21". Looks great and the car looks a tad smaller on them. I put Michelin Pilot Sport 4S on them. Tons of grip. This week another mod was installed. A stage 1 remap by Mosselman Turbo Systems. The car should have 450hp and 650nm. On the dyno before the remap it showed 453hp and 699nm. After the remap... 549hp and 882 nm! It is a serious monster now. V-max is also removed so I need to go to limitless Autobahn soon. Good thing it is only 30 mins from here.

Stage 1 or Stage 2? Their website says Stage 1 should only put it at 500hp, but Stage 2 puts it at 542hp. The Stage 1 module looks like a JB4 quick install type unit and they claim that no software will detect it. $1700 USD is a crazy amount compared to JB4, but JB4 doesn't have a quick install version for these engines. So if they truly can do 50+ HP using a quick install unit compared to the $600 JB4 unit which requires opening up a lot of areas to make multiple connections, then maybe it's not a bad price, especially if the factory warranty isn't affected at all. |

In my opinion both are stage 1.
I see stage 1 as alteration of the software only, stage 2 I see as stage 1 + airflow (in -and exhaust) and stage 3 with for instance different turbo's eg. See the link below for their options: https://www.mosselmanturbo.com/en/bm...-g11-g12-450hp So their Itronic module is basically a plug and play tuning box. They say that BMW can't trace it in case of warrenty issues. But then my contact in BMW say they can see everything. I am not an expert so I don't know. Why I went for the remap and not for the Itronic is that with the remap the Vmax is increased. That was my secondary wish after the power increase. As the car is still under full warrenty the next 1,5 year I am taking a risk now with the remap. My previous F10 535d also had a Mosselman remap. Never had issues with that.

That makes sense, and yes... I'm sure that BMW can probably tell if something has been plugged in at some point. With all of the electronics in this thing, it seems impossible that they wouldn't be able to know. I still have over 5 years of extended warranty left, so probably not worth the risk. This engine is already pretty incredible.

Had some fun on the Autobahn this week. I topped 291 km/h on the GPS.
I have in the meantime bought a Dragy to get more measurements. Looks like the 100km/h-200km/h (60-125) is around 8 seconds... I will code the Alpina dials as well. I had coded the digital speedo in the clock but it is connected to the clock so it stucks at 263 km/h whilst the acceleration continues.

I have measured with Dragy only 1 run.
I did a very 'easy' run; so DSC on, full throttle acceleration. No launch control. It was on the German Autobahn; road was very lightly damp. So room for improvement! 0-100 4.74s (standard 4.7s) 0-200 13.16s 100-200 8.42s 100 kph = 62 mph and 200 kph = 125 mph. So a 0-200 sub 13s will be possible; a 100-200 sub 8 most likely not. 1/4 mile was 12.37s. So with optimal conditions and launch control perhaps would go in the high 11's. Vmax again 291kph on the GPS which is just over 180 mph.

Congratulations and good luck with it. It’s a beauty! Having finally tired of keeping up with the maintenance of my 2010 E61 Wagon and also amidst constant fear of impending turbo failure, I just traded for a CPO 2016 750xi. My God do I love this car. I can’t imagine what more someone could want or need. I looked at A8L also and S8. The 7 is a superior vehicle in many ways. Though the S8 is definitely faster it lacks the same refinement and is not suitable for a 6’5” driver with two kid seats in the back. I feel fortunate to be part of the 7 series club. Now I just have to start figuring out the technology...
