Hello everyone,
Hope all is well. Service appointment scheduled Tuesday and some insight before my visit would be helpful. The last work done to my engine was replacement of some injectors this past January. My car has since been calling for oil frequently, this past interval being a mere 655 miles. Some questions: 1. What’s the current procedure for the dealer to determine what the problem is? Is this something that will need multiple visits, where they top off oil and wait for me to return with the same problem? I’d like to get down to the problem now if possible, as I, myself, have been topping off oil upon the car’s request. 2. Does the car save / catalog each time it’s requested additional oil? How does it save this information; date, time, mileage? If so, shouldn’t this be sufficient for the dealer to see that the car has been demanding oil on a regular basis vs. my having to return to the dealer again in the future? 3. What could the possible causes be? I don’t see oil stains on the ground of where I park. Valve stems? What work is needed to replace same? A major job? Is BMW covering the costs at all? Always thought I was immune to this problem, but now an issue. I’ve also always gotten horrendous mileage, around and below 10 mpg’s. Never complained of same, but my 200 or so mile range is getting to me. Any thoughts on same would also be helpful. Thank you very much! |

My N63 is at the dealer having its valve stem seals replaced.
At approximately 60k miles, this is a $8k+ job (covered under extended warranty). Anyone know why the valve stem seals go bad on the N63? Should I anticipate failure again in the future, or are new, improved parts now used? Thanks. |

Hello all, does this same issue/fix apply to the n63 TU engine as well? I’m having the same issues with my 2013 F01 40k miles. Just out of warranty and dealer is saying half of my injectors need replacing.

Same burning and hardening happens to all rubber and every gasket near turbos sooner or later in that engine. Its a tight package with insufficient cooling. Yes, the new seals are improved and different part number. They should tolerate heat better. |

Service Bulletin B001314
Hey Everyone, been browsing the forum for a while, but just registered as a member today. I did so because of this posting right here. I just purchased a 2011 BMW X5 xDrive50i and have had a few bumps in the road since I got her. One month into it, it wouldn't start for like 30 mins and when it did every dash alarm possible was on. Turned out to be Low Pressure Fuel pump. And if it wasn't me being pissed off and making it an issue with the stealership I would have had to pay for it, but I didn't. All was well all about a month ago. It went into Limp mode and threw codes showing cylinders 5 and 6 misfiring. Changed out the Spark plugs and the Coil Packs for the affected cylinders but did not fix the issue. So the only thing I can think of, and the suggestion of the stealership service advisor was the fuel injectors. Upon which they quoted me close to $3k for the repair!! Then today I saw this post about the BMW Service Bulletin (B001314) that speaks directly to this issue and that it should be covered. I called BMW and all they tell me is there are no Active Recalls for my vehicle. But did admit that there could be Serve Bulletins out there for my X5 but they couldn't confirm that unless I bring the X5 into them.
So Monday I will bring her into them and let them do what they need to do to verify the service bulletin, and I will ask if there are any others that would apply and to have that work too. SOOOO THANK YOU FOR THIS POSTING!!! I hope it makes the difference between breaking the bank and getting it fixed for free. Anyone know of any other Service Bulletins that may apply to my X5? |
