F01 vs. F10 Turn Signal Indicators
Why does the F01 7 Series have amber (yellow) rear turn signal indicators and the F10 5 Series have red ones? Can’t be a NAS vs. Euro DOT thing, as both are in the US. Strange...

The orange LEDs are more expensive to produce. The red ones are cheaper, and BMW is pretty much screwing the US if you don't have a 7. The US is the only country in the world to allow red turn signals, and studies have shown driver response to amber turn signals are much quicker than red.

Funny... I just noticed the same thing with the current Mercedes-Benz E-Class and S-Class today; the E- has Red, while the S- has Amber! The cost savings must really add up for these companies, as I'd otherwise think world-wide economies of scale would trump; guess not!
