What is "Increased top speed limiter"

Got a used 2016 750i xDrive M sport and it comes with "Increased top speed limiter" as an option.

Not wanting to test it on public roads but does anyone know what it actually means?

Searched the forum and found nothing.

When BMW comes with performance tires it allows the same speed limit as it has in germany 155 mph. It is still limited since unrestricted car can do higher but green party regulations in germany dictate that for the past 20years.

In US most cars come with all season tires that are h rated - lame for Bmw since there are many v rated all seasons on the market. But because of that most bmw sold in us are limited to 130 mph based on tires

So when you order performace tires you get option 840 increased speed limiter to germanys 155

I see there is a speed monitor alarm in one of the menu options. That goes up to 162.

On cluster you can see 260km/h but real speed (gps) is 250km/h. The speedometer isn't accurate.

This may also be the fact that you can remove the top speed limiter the cars come standard with via coding but it did need to be done back before a certain amount of time / miles IIRC, I did read something on this on here but can't remember the specifics...maybe FastLaneJB can help as he was looking to remove the limiter.

I can't say if this is what you have as an option or if it is indeed simply a tire rating but hope this helps in any case.

Safe travels.

And welcome to the forum to those that have joined our group of G11/G12 owners!

It was an option listed in the car spec - I had then confirmed that the number listed is correct. Thank you all.
