Lol, same. She wouldn't mind if I wanted a setup like that...it'd just go in the basement.

Why AC and not PCars? PCars is pretty... AC the few youtube videos I see ... jesus looks like a nintendo to me!

I'm on a VIVE for VR. The Project Pagani edition on the ring was really neat. Too bad resolution isnt as perfect as you can get on a screen, but yes its amazingly immersive...

Console: Xbox One

Wheel Base: Fanatec CSL Elite (just released)
Rim: Fanatec CSL Elite Wheel
Pedals: Fanatec CSL Elite with Loadcell Brake
Rig: Playseat Challenge

I am having so much fun using this so far. I don't have the ability to get to the track often, so this definitely fills the void!
Aha, another data point... yeah FH3, what a dissapointment it doesn't play well with a wheel... I want an open city-driving type of simulator...

p.s. another +1 for the Playseat Challenge... perfect price point and all.

Because AC is a real simulator. PCars is just a video game like Forza. I prefer realistic physics and laser scanned tracks. Assetto Corsa is used by Ferrari and Porsche as the official factory simulators. They provide tons of data from their cars to the guys who make AC so that they drive as accurately as possible.

Not sure what kind of videos you are watching for AC, but the game looks extremely realistic, while PCars looks hyper realistic.

Here's a video I did sliding around in a 991.2 911 Carerra S:

You can piece together a sim rig for pretty cheap these days. There are so many options. I just highly recommend PC over consoles. You get a lot more upgradability and your hardware will outlast console generations.

Wow Great setup

Hey Radiant, what video card are you using for the Rift? Have you experienced any nausea using it? I have heard good things, but haven't tried one yet, and heard that some people don't do to well with racing sims...

Also, what rig is that you are using? Looks almost custom... Clean setup.

1080GTX. And even that card can't run with the graphic settings I'd prefer. I have to turn things down significantly to get the steady 90fps.

I'm fine with VR. Some things still make me a little sick, but I'm totally fine in driving sims. I used to get light-headed when I spun a car (when I first got it), but you really get used to it after awhile. But yea some people can barely go a corner or 2 on a lap before feeling sick. Definitely something you need to test to see if you are affected by it a lot or not. If it's just a little bit, you'll get used to it and won't be an issue anymore.

It's crazy how much GPU the Rift needs. A computer shop had told me that running 3 1080p monitors was harder on the card, but everyone using Rift seems to have that card, and still unable to max games.

Got the rift and played AC. So awesome. I still can't drive for crap with a controller. Debating buying the thrustmaster TX system but not sure if I'll actually get better. Is there a decent second hand market for controllers if I decide it's not for me?

Lots of people buy sim rigs and end up rarely using them so they put them on the used market. I've had quite a few friends buy second-hand Fanatec setups for reasonably cheap prices.

Yea I was able to almost max my graphic settings with a 2x 980gtx sli setup when I had triple screens. VR definitely needs more GPU power. What makes it tougher is hitting 90fps consistently for everything to look smooth.
