What’s so ridiculous looking? Have you not looked at the Lexus’ grills or other brands?
Think about it, if they have designed small grills that is going to make the front so out of proportion: headlights big and small kidneys that will resemble a pig’s nose.
Advancement in design and technology dictates a radical change.

It's not the size that is ridiculous, but more so how it flows into the rest of the car. Lexus and MB flow nicely into the design. This looks ridiculous on a sedan. It's easier to look at on the SUV models.

I can’t think of anything more uglier than the Lexus’ LS front grill: reminds of an oven grill. No purpose in design, Lexus designers wanted to slap that hideous grill to fill in the space and I am not talking about an area that is 2 feet width by 10 inches height.

Not sure who their target audience was. I have had a 2017 750 individual and now a 2018 750 Msport. I find the new front end design to be ridiculous. I would feel very unprofessional pulling up in that. Rear looks great, typical Bmw lci.

ugliest front end on a BMW hands down in my opinion. looks like something that belongs on a truck. rear end looks nicer but looks like a Lincoln with that led right across the rear.
Hurts to say this but S class head and shoulders better in design by a country mile.

I agree with most people, the new oversized grills look terrible. The grills on the 8 series are larger than most, but still look quite nice. Not the case here though. It ruins the whole car for me.

I think the real problem is simply that they made the kidney grills so noticeable. They were always just kind of a family trait of BMW's and something that you knew you were getting, but something that didn't really stand out. Kind of like the Hofmeister Kink. This new grill design is just so over-the-top and in your face. I'm really, really happy I bought one of the last 2019's before the redesign was released.

Going over to have a look this week. Some people have said the grills do not look bad in person. It is a matter of taste, of course, and IMHO a car should be judged on the whole package, not just one piece.

So don’t drive one. It is that simple. In fact, an alternative would be choosing another brand like Lexus.
If you guys think it’s that easy to design a car ground up then grab a pencil and paper and challenge yourself to draw an alternative design. Competition is fierce folks and any car manufacturer has to be aggressive with design and lead the luxury segment.

While that is true, one piece can also ruin a whole package...

I cannot understand for the life of me how people can think the new grille looks anything but utterly ridiculous.

It's comically large. A piss poor effort by BMW to improve what was otherwise decent, albeit highly conservative styling.

Does BMW corporate ever read these threads? I'd feel better if I knew they were aware of how much of an abomination this is.

The front of the model 2018 is like the series 5. Why pay so much for a 7 to feel like in a 5 !!!
Now we really see that it's a 7!

You can't look beyond them because they are too big to see past
