Rear window replacement

Has anyone had to replace the rear glass in a G11/12? Dealer is quoting $2395 for the part only. Safelite said that dealer may be the only option. Any thoughts?

I am pretty sure rear window replacement must be OEM given rear window defroster. Same goes for front windshield if you have HUD.

just had my X3's windshield replaced at a dealership (using oem windshield, but the work was actually performed by a technician from a local glass repair shop). My only advice is to get quotes from several dealerships because they can vary quite a bit. I didn't take the car straight to a glass shop because I wanted the dealership to warranty the work (replacing the trim pieces and calibrating the car, etc.).

Maybe the 7 is different for some reason, but typically there are aftermarket options for a windshield with HUD. I have one on my X3. Works exactly like the original.

I need a read window, not a windshield. I assume they don't break often, as they're not subject to road debris, rocks, etc.

I’d expect it to be solely a BMW part here in Europe and wouldn’t be shocked if they are on long back order.
