Given new 7 and 5 the 3er should be mellow boring but then again that mellow style might look good on a 3er. These pics actually look good in terms of the shape.

No, this is not the case. We know as fact that there will be 330i and M340i models. A 320i is possible for US return as well, and of course all of the other gasoline and diesel models in other markets. |

The 3 has just got too big, even the current car is a couple of inches too long imo.. why do manufacturers insist on competing with each other for interior space with every replacement model? Once the new 1 appears in a couple of years there will be no option whatsoever of a compact RWD BMW... sad times indeed!!

New BMW (serial production) full-LED headlight graphics premiere ...
Btw, don't mind the new Ford Focus prototype in front. And... expect the new 3er also in full BEV variant. Tesla3 is getting a serious rival sooner than expected. Rejoice. Last edited by EnI; 08-02-2017 at 03:54 AM.. |

This seems to have borrowed cues from the VFL concept..really sleek headlight units right there..BMW could have something here. Let's hope the interior it's actually not just a copy/paste, like the 7er, 5er..its time to bring something interesting to the table. They have been uninspired for far too long. |

Update: August 9, 2017
The G20 3 Series has finally revealed some production parts as we now get our first look at the production LED headlights and tail lights. These headlights feature a closed loop design. It remains to be seen whether these are intended for the base model, with higher end models featuring the current open L-shaped styling. And while we now see the lighting elements of the production tail lights, their overall shape is still obscured by the camouflage.

It hope it doesn't get any bigger. The current 3/4 barely fits in my garage already!

Looks promising, but there is only so much BMW can change with their traditional styling. I love the halos and L shaped taillights, but sometimes envy Audi which can evolve their lights in much cooler and drastic ways. Hope they find some way to make these look different if they're closed, kind of liked the f30 LCI headlights.

Think about it - what other car brand has a similar very unique headlight look that’s instantly recognisable? While Audi and Merc certainly has some cool looking models, they are all over the place regarding the LED style

The closed loop design is probably the low end headlight. LED but projector style and non adaptive. The higher end lights get the open end design.

I'm assuming that these are for the base model. I guess we can expect some kind of hexagonal (icon) design for the DRLs much like the LCI 4 and new 5.

I think the mules with the trapezoid exhaust tips are M340i. Then again, who knows what naming kerfuffle BMW will pull.

I don't know how you can tell it's closed design from those pics, but I hope it is. Agree with DeeKay, BMW has been known for the "halo" design, needs to stay that way.
Appears to be circular on the sides, and straight on bottom...maybe straight on top. I like it! |
