Does a 740Ld have these exhaust flaps? Or is it just the petrol models?

Does it stay on the ON mode all the time or you always need to turn it on?
It always stays open until you manually change it back to auto in the BimmerLink app.

Here's a video of my 2016 750 doing a cold start then several cycles of switching to open and then auto (closed) using the BimmerLink app. You can hear the flaps open and close, it first changes the passenger side flap, then the driver side closest to the camera.

You really need headphones to hear the difference in the video, which is mainly deeper bass. In person it's much easier to hear the difference. When you see exhaust coming out of the closest pipe to the cameras (outside pipes) that's when the flap is open.

BimmerLink gives you the ability to see a lot of sensor data, battery level, all sorts of crazy stuff. It also will do the battery registration if you replace the battery yourself. So it's worth it to me.

I wouldn’t recommend it for the 740 if you’re only looking to use exhaust feature, not enough of a noticeable difference. I can make a video but it will be hard to tell

I just want to know if I can do it on the 740 Diesel.

If it does I can annoy Greta, telling her I'm pumping more into the atmosphere for her to whine about!

Garage List
Just remove the corresponding fuse while flaps are open and they stay that way. No codes or anything.

No. When you turn off the engine, valve closes. After engine start you have to connect with Bimmercode app and valve automatically opens. No need to press OPEN in Bimmercode, but still you have to connect every time.

As AddyDaddy says; to avoid this it is THE easiest mod to remove fuse 203 (7.5A) from the trunk fuse box when valve is opened and it will not close any more (no power) and of course stays open all the time. One minute job.
