Remote not detected
Hiyo. 2016 G12 and keep having issues with the key not being detected. Sometimes the vehicle will start and then after a few minutes of driving it says to hold the key to the spot on the column. Whenever this happens Bluetooth stops working. Other times the car won't start until I hold it up to the column. It's getting to be frequent enough that it is very annoying.
I have replaced the battery. No change. I have a second key which I have not tested. I suppose I should have by now but maybe that is next. Any other ideas or thoughts? |

Try the other key to be sure. If it fails then it's an issue with the car which hopefully is under warranty still.
If it works then it's obviously the key and would be replaced if under warranty.

To close this out, I figured out the problem. I have a key fob for access to my company's locked doors. It is RFID. It is on my key ring with the BMW key and under the right circumstances appears to interfere with the key signal.
I have started to use the little pocket within the pocket of my dress pants...whatever that is called, to hold the rfid tag next to my leg so the key is always facing out. Seems to have corrected the issue. |

Had the same issue with my 2nd key fob. Replace battery 3 times and comfort access or starting the car was having issues. Dealer replaced the battery a 4th time and still the same issues like what Op mentioned. Dealer ordered a new key a couple of days ago and I got it today. Everything works now with the 2nd key.
