Excessive Creaks & Rattles?

Hello fellow 7-Series aficionados,

I am curious to hear if anyone is experiencing an uncharacteristically noisy cabin while daily driving. The problems for me started the day I picked up the car last year, (loaded 2019 750i) and persisted up to the present day, so I know it's not just cold weather related. It seems that every single bump in the road elicits a corresponding rattle in the interior. I'm also getting loud creaks coming from the headliner when I drive over undulating pavement. It's almost as if the rigidity of the car has been compromised. My previous vehicle was a 2015 X5, and that thing was solid as a tank, so it's surprising to me that their flagship German-built sedan is so much worse by comparison.

Anyone here having similar problems? Just to be clear, this isn't some noise I'm nitpicking that happens every couple weeks... Literally every few seconds the interior panels are giving off unpleasant noises that are not befitting of a $130K luxury car.

Absolutely no creaks or rattles in mine from new, so doesn’t sound right at all - and I am on 20” wheels.

Suggest you throw back at your dealer to resolve. You may need to take them for a quick spin in yours to demonstrate, and then do the same trip again in their demonstrator.

Thanks for the reply. The car has been in for repairs 3 times already totaling over 35 days. Each time I ride with the tech to let them hear what I'm talking about, and each time I get the car back and the same noises are present. The most recent time I had a tech tell me that each time they fixed a noise, a new one would pop up. He said that they drove a new 7 back to back with mine and the new one is much, much quieter. I've escalated the problem to corporate, and supposedly they are sending an engineer out to try and solve the problem next week again.

Are they sounds of metal, or squeaking like the rubber doors seals when they need some conditioner applied?

Definitely not door seals. One is coming from the rear speaker grille, (they already replaced the grille and the speaker) several from the rear headliner area, one from the dash near the heads up display, another from the center console.

Not a metal on metal sound, just general plastic rattling and creaking.

I too have noticed a plastic rattle and creaking from the tacho/head up area especially when driving across a bump ot some imperfections on the road.

It bugs me as well.

Was you car ever taken apart for repairs? (Trim, dash etc? If so could be that the clips got some play in them

Yes, it's been in no less than 5 times for the same problems since I've had it. At this point I don't care if they use chewing gum to fix it, I just want the noises gone.

Thanks for the reply. I knew I was dealing with an exceptionally rare issue. All the other G12s I've been in are quiet as a church mouse. For reference I'm on stock 19" wheels as well. Must've been an off-day in Dusseldorf.

Mine is at 60K miles on 19" run-flats. No creaks, it does have a small rattle on the passenger side somewhere that I have not tried to locate yet.

Thanks! The car is going back into service tomorrow morning so the shop foreman and an engineer from BMW can look it over. Here's hoping they get it solved (or give me a 2020 B7 for my trouble).

The only time I get any noise from mine is first thing in the morning and I get a couple of crackles from the top air vent on the dash as the heating warms up. But only when it has been below 5oC overnight.

Lasts about 30 secs and then stops. But I would suspect they can't stop that.

Same here, it started few weeks ago, I hear few creaks from the vents when heat kicks in and then it goes away!

Small update: I was urged to bring the car back in for service after emailing my displeasure to a high ranking executive at BMWNA. The dealership is conferring with the regional engineer as to what to do next to stop the noises. I actually got a call to come pick the car up yesterday, but while I was on my way they called back and said they found another rattle during a test drive...

The whole situation is really unfortunate, but my hope is that they are either able to stop the noises once and for all, or get me into another 7-Series immediately.

Another question for the sub: Do any fellow 750i owners have their cars show up as Alpina B7s when the VIN is run? I've had this problem since day one and what really sucks is that my insurance agent is forced to charge me the B7 rates until BMW sends him a letter stating that the car is indeed a 750. I've reached out to several people at corporate and no one seems to know what's going on.

Thanks for the information. Glad I'm not the only one. I'll try the bill of sale and see if that works.
