Any M3 & 7 Series Owners?
I have been eyeing a few 740s and 750s over the last few weeks. Looking at a lower mileage 2017-2018. I understand that maintenance and repairs are the main reason for the ability to get these so cheap after just a few years. I am considering going with a Carmax vehicle and adding on an extended warranty for at least the life of the loan. I drive maybe 2-3k miles a year so mileage will stay low. Am I crazy to look at one at all as I am also looking at the Lexus LS500. Would love to get some owners POV on owning one if anyone is out there.

If maintenance is your higher criteria, choose the Lexus. It’s a nice ride.
If you enjoy driving with some amount of spirit and enthusiasm, the Lexus will bore you 10 minutes into the test drive. Totally different cars and experiences. Your title mentions an M3 but I couldn’t figure out what the connection to the post might be...? |

I used to have a 2006 750Li. Drove like a dream but was a mechanical nightmare. Still, the drive made the headaches worth it.
I then got a 2016 750. Didnt drive as well but did have some nicer things such as the interior lighting. Then I got a Coolant leak at 58k miles. Bmw wanted 5,500 to repair it even though it was under cpo warranty as rubber coolant and engine components are not covered. Multiple others have had similar issues, some with even lower mileage. The car was, and it seems it always will be an unreliable piece of crap. |

I'm currently trying to chase a coolant leak, however the pressure test didn't find any leaks. My words to the tech plz explain this much coolant on my garage floor sir. My 370z doesn't have this color fluid so tell me sway how. Lol.

I purchased 2018 740iX last year, MSRP was $94,600 and I bought mine for $42500 (24,000 miles). When I bought the car it only came with one key fob, so I of course bought another which was $625. Oil change is due every 9,500 miles or 12 months (what comes first) and that was $119. I only put about 4,000 miles on the car last 12 months.
I will need new rear brakes within <2,000 miles which is $1,075 and you cannot get aftermarket for this car...or at least I would not gamble with non-OEM brakes for too many reasons. |
